Camphill VillageKimberton Hills

amphill Village Kimberton Hills is

a dynamic farming, gardening,
and handcrafting community that
includes adults with developmental
disabilities. Over 100 Kimberton Hills
residents, living and working side by
side, create a caring community for
people of all ages and varied abilities.
Located on 432 acres of farm, gardens,
and woodlands in Chester County,
Pennsylvania, Kimberton Hills is also a
local center for culture and a model for
sound ecological living.

Founded in 1972, Kimberton Hills is

part of the international Camphill
Movement. Camphill, developed by
Karl Koenig, M.D. and others in
Scotland in 1940, is based on the work
of Rudolf Steiner. Camphill now
includes over 100 independent
communities in more than 20 countries
on four continents. The communities
value service, sharing, spiritual
nourishment, and recognition of each
individuals gifts. They offer a model of
renewal for the wider society. Camphill
communities include children, youth
and adults with developmental
disabilities, as well as those with
societal and personal vulnerabilities.

A Purposeful Community

t Kimberton Hills, community members live

together as expanded families in houses
throughout the village, nurturing relationships based on
respect and mutual support.

Kimberton Hills resident volunteers, both long term

and one year service volunteers, live and work side by
side with those with so-called disabilities. All create a
lively cultural and social life, which rays into the
surrounding community. Work on the farm, in the CSA
gardens, and in the craft workshops, caf and bakery
complement home, cultural and recreational life.

Supported through its own products and services, and

family and charitable contributions, the simple lifestyle
and voluntary service system of Kimberton Hills yields
a cost-effective community which encourages a full and
meaningful life.

Environmental Stewardship

amphill life is founded upon an understanding of

the interdependence of environmental and human
well being. This is expressed in many waysfrom its
dedication to sustainable building and conservation of
resources, to agricultural work, to sharing of resources
at home and with the larger community.
Kimberton Hills is dedicated to the practice and
teaching of Biodynamic agriculture and has produced
Stella Natura, an agricultural calendar, for over 30 years.

CSA Garden: Our Biodynamic 15-acre garden

operates a large CSA (Community Supported
Agriculture) with shares available for the local
community beyond Kimberton Hills. We grow a
diverse seasonal mix of vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit
and also tend a small livestock herd. We are deeply
committed to the use of Biodynamic methods, which
allows us to strengthen our fragile ecosystem as well as
provide food of the highest quality.

Dairy: Our pasture-based, organic raw milk dairy farm

is comprised of nearly 250 acres of mixed pasture, hay
and arable land. The farm is committed to rotational
grazing as a holistic and sustainable approach to land
and livestock care.

We practice sound ecological principles and innovative

design when addressing other areas of our land
including our orchards, apiary, woodlands and estate.

the hallmark of Kimberton Hills. A gift of any amount
will be deeply appreciated and carefully used to support
