The manager of a factory wants to hire some ships from a shipping company to transport their
products to South America. If x ships are hired, the shipping fee for each ship is given by
$(5000 + 500x). In addition, the shipping company will charge a fixed handling fee of $30 000.
(a)

If x ships are hired, show that the total cost $y is given by
