When wrongly using the two wires of a twisted pair for different directions (TX and RX), the principle
of balanced signals will NOT have its positive effect of elimination of common mode interfering
signals.
In opposite, both signal (TX+RX) will interfere with each other, the more, the longer the cable length
is. Signal quality will be degraded (bit errors).
Also alarm management is affected: In case one end of the cable is disconnected from the terminal,
the alarm loss of signal would be expected. But due to induction from the TX to the RX wire, there
might be an incoming signal detected. No alarm at all or for instance LOF or LOMF would be
generated instead.

Common mode disturbances are eliminated by the balanced (= symmetric) signal structure. Due to
the twisted pair cable mechanics any electromagnetic disturbance should have the same effect on
both wires of a twisted pair, the TX A and TX B oor RX A and RX B. By the twisting of the wires it is
made sure that one wire can not shield the other wire agains a certain direction.
The input stage (on the IFUA/AXCC) of the balances E1/T1 interface uses a differential amplifier
design to filter out all common signal components between the A and B inputs. What remains is the
pure PCM signal as it was sent from the far end E1/T1 transmitter.

Unbalanced signal are not so well protected against EMI. The interference level mainly depends on
the Cable length and the quality of the screen (= shield).

Workaround:
1. Check that the connections have been made according to the installation document
2. Check the capacity of the connector. Opt-RF1 and Opt_RF3 support 4 cells, Opt-RF2 support 2
cells.

Easy way on site is to use torch to see if light can be seen in far end. But this is very coarse check!

Workaround:
1. Configure loops in order to analyze in which end or direction the problem exists.

Workaround:
1. In RNC Object Browser, lock all WCells in BTS
2. Modify WBTS
3. Delete WBTS connection configuration settings from the fields and press OK
4. Retype WBTS connection configuration settings and press OK

Workaround:
1. Analyze according performance monitoring the direction of the fault. If another counter is 0,
troubleshoot that end accordingly.
