InstallingOracleDatabase11gonLinux
ToinstalltheOraclesoftware,youmustusetheOracleUniversalinstaller.

Forthisinstallation,youneedeithertheDVDsoradownloadedversionoftheDVDs.Inthistutorial,youinstallfrom
thedownloadedversion.FromthedirectorywheretheDVDfileswereunzipped,openaterminalwindowandenter
thefollowing:
./runInstaller.sh

TheproductyouwanttoinstallisOracleDatabase11g.MakesuretheproductisselectedandclickNext.

Youwillperformabasicinstallationwithastarterdatabase.EnterorclfortheGlobalDatabaseNameandoracle
forDatabasePasswordandConfirmPassword.Then,clickNext.

YouneedtospecifyyourInventorydirectory.Thelocationshouldbesetto/u01/app/oracle/oraInventory.Accept
thedefaultOperatingSystemgroupname,oinstall.Then,clickNext.

4.

Theinstallernowverifiesthatthesystemmeetsalltheminimumrequirementsforinstallingandconfiguringthe
chosenproduct.Pleasecorrectanyreportederrorsbeforecontinuing.Whenthechecksuccessfullycompletes,
clickNext.


5.

OracleConfigurationManagerallowsyoutoassociateyourconfigurationinformationwithyourMetalinkaccount.
Youcanchoosetoenableitonthiswindow.Then,clickNext.

ReviewtheSummarywindowtoverifywhatistobeinstalled.Then,clickInstall.

6.

Theprogresswindowappears.

TheConfigurationAssistantswindowappears.

Yourdatabaseisnowbeingcreated.

Whenthedatabasehasbeencreated,youcanunlocktheusersyouwanttouse.ClickOK.

10. YouneedtoexecuteorainstRoot.shandroot.shastherootuser.
