Aluminum Products
Several members of the Mitsubishi Materials Group make and market automotive
components that reduce vehicle weight and raise the recycling rates for automobiles. The
excellent features of such fabricated aluminum products as multiport flat aluminum tubes
for car air conditioners from Mitsubishi Aluminum and other Group companies have
garnered a solid reputation from global electrical component makers. We maintain
production points in many overseas regions.
4. Thermistor Sensors
Thermistors realize highly precise temperature measurement and temperature control by
utilizing the property of lower resistance values in response to increasing temperatures.
Mitsubishi Materials satisfies the needs of our global customers by expanding our diverse
lineup of thermistor sensors. In addition to sensors for car air conditioners and air flow,
we also offer sensors for motorcycle intake temperature and oil temperature.
5. Direct Bonded Aluminum Substrates
Direct Bonded Aluminum (DBA) substrates have achieved success by using our own
bonding technology to bond ceramic and metal with high reliability and high
performance. These substrates are particularly popular for use as isolating wiring boards
in hybrid cars which we supply to major automakers. Mitsubishi Materials continues to
build a structure to enhance quality control, cut costs and stable supply.
6. Connectors
In the pursuit of enhanced safety and operability as well as an improved environment for
driver and passengers, the automotive industry has accelerated the installation of
electronics into automobiles. But these objectives rely on high-performance materials,
with the ability to function even in severe conditions of heat and moisture. Mitsubishi
Shindoh, a member of the Mitsubishi Materials Group, offers high-performance copper
alloys for terminals and connectors, that help automakers around the world satisfy these
needs.
7. Powder metallurgy Products
Powder metallurgy products are primarily used in key components of automotive engines
and transmissions. We have been working on a structure to facilitate a stable supply of
Powder metallurgy products to automakers around the world.

skyscrapers and civil engineering structures that must withstand the effects of time and
use.
2. Next-Generation Multifunction Building Materials
MOISS, developed with Mitsubishi Materials Kenzai Corp. and Mitsubishi Shoji
Construction Materials Corp., has earned top marks as a durable interior wall material
with excellent formability and the ability to absorb volatile organic compounds and
excess moisture in the air and to withstand earthquakes. When MOISS walls are
dismantled, the material can be pulverized and used as a fertilizer and soil enhancer.
These aspects of MOISS were officially recognized in 2005, underlining its function as a
next-generation building material with recycling potential, and its applications expanded
to include driven forms for civil engineering works.
3. Cement-Based Soil Stabilizers
Ube-Mitsubishi Cement Corp., a member of the Mitsubishi Materials Group, markets UStabilizer, a cement-based soil stabilizer that helps to solidify groundwork and thereby
make the most effective use of limited land. Soil stabilizers have reinforced foundations
formed by landfill operations at such sites as Tokyo International Airport, Kansai
International Airport and Chubu International Airport.
4. Aggregate and Pavement
Concrete is a mixture of cement and aggregate that hardens into a predetermined form or
framework. Tokyohoso Kogyo Co.,Ltd., a member of the Mitsubishi Materials Group,
uses aggregate in large quality to form roadbeds and as a component of asphalt pavement.
Aggregate is also used as a secondary cement product and added to fresh concrete.
Annual demand for aggregate in Japan is about 400 million tons. High quality control
standards ensure the durability of concrete and paved roads made with our aggregate.
5. Cement Derived High-Performance Products
Mitsubishi Materials provides a set of products line in order to satisfy the varied demands
at every each of the construction methods and construction sites. It includes repairing
materials which make it possible to enhance the durability of concrete construction used

From its earliest applications, cement has been a key building material,
contributing quite literally to the foundations of progressively more
advanced civilizations. Today, demand for cement is growing, not only in
developing countries but also developed nations.
Mitsubishi Materials has established cement production and sales points
overseas, including the United States, China and Vietnam to help
construct and improve social infrastructures abroad. In Japan, Group
companies involved in cement operations focus on high-performance
cement, which demonstrates excellent properties, such as low heat,
which prevents cracking in mass concrete structures, high strength,
imperative in the construction of skyscrapers and civil engineering
structures that must withstand the effects of time and use, and high
fluidity, which facilitates construction of concrete structures.
In addition, Advanced Materials & Tools Company manufactures civil
engineering tools.

Mitsubishi Materials sells thermal coal to electric power utilities in Japan and other
domestic companies for general industrial applications. We rely primary on coal from
mines in Australia and Indonesia. We also hold 11% equity in an Australian coal mining
business, and this investment ensures stable access to coal sources. Our strong point is
that the coal that we import have low environmental impact----that is, low sulfur and ash
content----and have been favorably received by our clients.
The stable supply of energy sources plays a vital role in supporting the
foundations of industrial activity and community living. The Mitsubishi
Materials Group has its roots in the coal business ---- more specifically, the
operation of coal mines ---- which began in 1871. Coal was an important
commodity in those days, fueling the modernization of Japan.
Mitsubishi Materials is a clean energy company, providing nuclear,
geothermal, hydroelectric power and solar in addition to electric power
from such traditional sources as coal and petroleum, to help create
comfortable living and working environments. We also draw on a
profusion of technologies and extensive experience, accumulated through
many years in diverse energy-related pursuits, as well as our human
talents, to utilize energy wisely in the formation of sustainable community
development.

Mitsubishi
By the early 1940s, the original Mitsubishi zaibatsu (Mitsubishi Company), founded in the early 1870s,
had expanded into virtually every sector of the economy, including mining, heavy industry, oil refining,
chemicals, banking, real estate, insurance, even aircraft manufacture. It was the biggest most powerful
industrial combine in pre-war Japan.
Then, with the advent of World War II, everything changed. After the war, the single organization was
dissolved into scores of independent companies that were no longer subject to central control.
The common misconception abroad however, is that Mitsubishi is still one giant company. This is not so.
It is a collection of dozens of autonomous companies. Some of them have been around for more than a
century, while others have grown up in the last few years.
