Why am I passionate about history?

Im passionate about history because it tells our past and by studying it we can
understand better our society and the other nations and the reason behind their actions. But
since history is such a vast domain and its periods are so diferent even if they are linked, I
dont like all of them the same, for example I enjoy more Ancient history and Medieval Ages
than Modern and Contemporary history.
My favourite period is Ancient history because it is shrouded in mistery and myth
since we don't have to many accurate information, most of it consisting of tales or of late
writings. So I would like to descover more of its secrets and find out the truth behind the
myth. But not only the mistery intrigues me, I also love the culture of the Ancient
civilisations, their inventiveness in cresting such magnificent and breathtaking monuments as
the piramids, the Great Wall of China and others. I like how this civilisations can be
descovered through their religion, you can see how they dealt with the unknown through their
beliefs, making the furies of nature the powers of gods.
Medieval Ages are also my favourite because it was a darker period full of
suprestitions and predictions of the end of the world. People were very religious and lived
with the fear of spiritual damnation but at the same time some of them kept their pagan beliefs
and continued to celebrate them. So the christians kept the day of those celebrations but
replaced the pagan deity with saints. But because of those beliefs many were condamned of
witchcraft, especially women.
Then, even if Ancient history is my favourite, I also enjoy the other periods because
they have their share of secrets and of course their culture and impact on our society,
expecially modern and contemporary history. The reason I dont like modern and
contemporary history as much as the Ancient and Medieval history its because its more
about politics. The only thing that makes me love this periods is their culture and of course
the secrets behind some major events and the secret societies or people behind the scene who
supposedly hide the truth.
In conclusion even if history helps you understand better the world, I think I love it
more because of its misterys and secrets. I always love a good mistery and history is a domain
full of it, created by the lack of writings or because of people who hide the truth.

This conclusions might not be much but I dont have a really strong reason for being
pasionate about history, I just love it. Maybe it has something to do with ones caracter since
not all people can love or understand history.
