DIRECTED STUDIES PROPOSAL

INTRODUCTION OF TOPIC:
Resort is place which is used for relaxation, recreational or particular purpose with pleasant
environment and atmosphere where people spent their holidays. From definition of oxford " A place
that is frequented for holidays or recreation or for a particular purpose".(1) One can go and swim in
resort, can have lunch, can go just for time pass, plan an overnight stay and lit campfire, artist can
complete their portrait, noblest can finish novel, a poet can create his poem and tourist can have
charming stay there. In resort visitors are free from their daily activities and responsibilities which is
fulfill by staff. Resort are the perfect place for vacation to spend time where there are basic
accommodation. Beside accommodation units they provide facilities like restaurant, swimming pool,
health and fitness center, therapies, conference center, exhibition halls, indoor and outdoor sports
and many more.
Resort are usually located away from cities area. They are generally interlink with natural
surroundings without disturbing the serene and are located in scenic sites such as lakeside, forest,
mountain areas , and may other geographic sites that tends to attract tourists which can be day
serving and night serving.
According to new definition of resort "A resort is a full-service lodging facility that provides access to
or offers a range of amenities and recreation facilities to emphasize a leisure experience. Resorts
serve as the primary provider of the guests experience, oft en provides services for business and
meetings and are characteristically located in vacation-oriented settings." (2 )
There may be numerous form of Resorts they are

sports resorts
eco resorts
nature resorts
tourists resorts
health resorts
luxury resorts

Importance of Resorts:
Provide comfortable ,luxurious and peaceful environment to visitors
It provide recreational facilities to visitors.
It provide unique stillness and beautiful landscape to attract tourist
It provide different therapies which set the mind of people.

Objectives:

The main objectives of this proposal are as follows

To provide good environment for relaxation and recreation for people.
To identify the different design parameters of resorts in different countries
To design a resort closure with natural environment.
To create luxurious environment within resort complex for tourists
To provide best use of the leisure.
To promote domestic and foreigner tourists
To make a resort sustainability
To sort out the basic parameter for the best resort and other amenities required
To provide the jobs for locals and assist to uplifting the National economy

Project Justification:
This directed studies project "resorts" is based on my thesis topic. Here, it will help me to
accumulate data, provide information about the various services involved in such place that helps in
proper development. since resorts holds great potential in tourism sector more than 50% of the
country's income is based on tourism. It not only generates foreign revenue but gives immediate
socioeconomic benefit. With this research i could get more information about resort and it will help me
in the creation of unique resort in a built form. In the present context a well synchronized and planned
resort are the requirement of visitors. We can find many resorts here but few are only fulfilling its
requirement.

Methodology:

The study will be focused primarily on planning of various Resort activities, there space
requirement, and interrelation between those space.
The study will be done by using secondary data that is referring various book, suffering net,
survey .
The study will be further develop by doing case studies, informal interviews and observation
in different place.
In this research I will do about restaurant, recreational block, conference hall, guest room and
its detail research.
