Course description:
Physics 132 deals with that branch of physics that is concerned with
electric and
magnetic phenomena. We are going to cover the
following main topics:
Electric charge. Coulombs law. The electric field. Flux. Gauss` law.
Electric potential. Capacitance and capacitors. Resistance and resistivity.
Ohm`s law. Circuits. The magnetic field. Hall effect. Biot-Savart law.
Ampere`s law. Induction and inductance. Faraday`s law. Lenz`s law.
Magnetism of matter. Gauss` law for magnetic fields. Maxwells equations.

Course Regulations:
Each student should make sure that he/she is registered in one of the
lectures. In the lecture, the teacher may not be interrupted by questions.
However, the lecturer will sometimes allow for some questions at special
times. The opposite is true during discussion. Students should come prepared
with questions and comments. Students should also make use of their
instructors office hours to discuss problems.
To understand this course try to do the following steps:
1 Study each chapter from the book and from the lecture notes.
2 Solve the sample problem in each chapter.
3 Solve the discussion problems.
4 Attend your discussion class.
5 Solve the additional problems.
6 Use the office hours of your instructor.
