VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Personal Service Contractor: PROGRAM SPECIALIST-EDUCATION
The ED PS serves as a member of the Programming and Training (P&T) team and supports 80-100 Volunteers in training,
program, administration, and other Volunteer support issues. The ED PS has responsibility for supporting the planning,
development, implementation and administration of Peace Corps/Liberias programming and training activities. The ED
PS will support all P&T related activities for the Education Project with support and direction from the Education
Program Manager (ED PM) and DPT. The ED PS also represents Peace Corps/Liberia with governmental officials and
representatives of non-governmental and host country organizations.
Major Duties
Identify appropriate work sites for Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) placement with the ED PM and PTS. In doing
this, the PS ensures that such sites meet the criteria Peace Corps has for work place accommodation,
housing and other specific safety and security standards.
In collaboration with P&T staff, PCMOs, and SSM, the ED PS will conduct routine site visits as approved by
the DPT and in coordination with the ED PM
Working with the ED PM, provide technical assistance and guidance to Volunteers through phone calls, emails or during appointments in the office
Support the planning and development of a community-based technical training that addresses the
knowledge, skills and attitudes trainees are expected to acquire.
Conduct administrative and office work corresponding to the Education Project and Volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors degree in education, project management, community development or relevant field.
Experience: 3 years required, 5 or more years is desirable, experience in Education field and/or community
development, and trainer of trainers and adult training experience.
Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in written and oral English.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet programs
Ability to work independently with little supervision; good organization and time management skills;
willingness to take the initiative; excellent teamwork skills, strong service attitude; personal integrity; strong
cross-cultural skills; strong interpersonal skills, strong interest in Liberias development.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
Ability to work on a regular Monday through Friday schedule with evening and weekend hours when
necessary.
Ability to travel throughout Liberia as needed for implementation of the program and as in line with the job
