One-Step Sparring

Practice five times a week tigers for about 5-10 minutes and kids & adults for least 10-15 min. Record
the date in the boxes marked 1-5 for each day you practice. Once you complete the 8-week testing
cycle, you will have practiced 40 times! Kids, get your parents to initial at the end of each week. If
you complete the entire grid, you will earn a place on the Black Belt Honor Roll!
When practicing, remember the rule of three. Perform the activity three times or in sets of three. For
example, practice a kick in three sets of ten repetitions or practice the form three times: first by count,
then by naming each move, and finally by segment breakdown.

Orange Belt Philosophy

Interpretation

The sun is beginning to rise. As with the

mornings dawn, only the beauty of the sunrise
is seen rather than the immense power.

The beginner student sees the beauty of the art

of Taekwondo but has not yet experienced the
power in the technique.

Yellow Belt Philosophy

Interpretation

The seed is beginning to see the sunlight.

The student begins to understand

the basics of Taekwondo.

Continue practicing the curriculum from previous ranks. Black belts, and those testing to the
rank of black belt, are required to know all nine color belt forms.
