Resumen
The purpose of this study was to carry out an evaluative study of the instruction and
training on management of crew resources (CRM) and human factors program. It was
monitored in the space of May and August of2002. For achieving this pwpose, a stratified
sample of 73 pilots who used the program was chosen. They belonged to a Colombian
commercial airline population of 410 pilots from B-757, B-767, MD 83 and F 50
(including only 4 women). For choosing the sample it was taken into account the flying
ladder and the fleets participating. The evaluative investigation model proposed by
Stufllebeam establishes four moments: context, supply, process and product (CIPP).
During each moment, information was collected continually from several sources,
including institutional documents, information provided by national and international
legislation organizations, attendance to workshops, seminars and conferences focused on
air safety and human resources, and semi-structured and informal talks with expert
professionals from the aeronautical circle. According to the results, it is relevant to

implement monitoring strategies and design instruments to fulfill the purpose. Moreover,
theoretical review and active observation made it possible to supply a guide to direct
decision making with respect to aspects, such as: designing of teaching-learning
processes, using of the information and aggregate value, provided by workshops, and
suggestions dealing with aspects of planning and execution of the program's goals.
Finally, it must be said that the program fulfills the conditions demanded nationally and
internationally.
