What is LGBT?

LGBT stands for LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL and TRANSGENDER.

LESBIAN is a female homosexual. A female who experiences romantic love or sexual attraction towards
other females. The term lesbian is also used with regard to sexual identity or sexual behavior, regardless of sexual
orientation, or as an adjective to characterize or associate nouns with female homosexuality or same-sex attraction.
GAY is a term that primarily refers to a homosexual person or the trait of being homosexual. The term was
originally used to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy". In modern English, gay
has come to be used as an adjective, and as a noun, referring to the people, especially to gay males, and the
practices and cultures associated with homosexuality.
BISEXUALITY is romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behavior toward both males and females,
and may also encompass romantic or sexual attraction to people of any gender identity or to a person irrespective
of that person's biological sex or gender, which is sometimes termed pansexuality.
TRANSGENDER is the state of one's gender identity or gender expression not matching one's assigned sex.
Transgender is independent of sexual orientation. Transgender people may identify as heterosexual, homosexual,
bisexual, etc. Some may consider conventional sexual orientation labels inadequate or inapplicable to them.

What is HOMOPHOBIA ?
HOMOPHOBIA is having negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality alongside
with the fear of people who are attracted to the same sex or people who are identified as being
lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT). It can be expressed as antipathy, contempt,
prejudice, aversion, or hatred, may be based on irrational fear, and is sometimes related to
religious beliefs.

And how is it affecting people..?

There are two ways that homophobia can affect people. The first way is invisible
homophobia which is the fear of homosexuals in the inside or sometimes referred to as
internal homophobia. Examples of internal homophobia are, avoiding them. The people
who have homophobia will usually try to avoid a person who is a homosexual. In
some cases, people will also judge others sexual orientation by how they look. The
other homophobia is physical homophobia. There is also homophobia which people can
see such as avoiding the same gender and not fitting in. This will usually end up in the

person being abused and bullied either verbally or physically. It ends up to them
being called names or tortured until the point they break and commit suicide.

Ways to Eliminate Homophobia

Step 1: Where did it all start?

- Try to
look back into your own past to figure out why you
have become a homophobe. Can you recall people in
your past who have been very openly homophobic?
Who spoke negatively of homosexuality to you and
other people? These people may have influenced
you, consciously or unconsciously, with your own
homophobia. Ask yourself why they behaved the way
they did, and why you have accepted these beliefs
yourself.

Step 3: Talk to a Non-Homophobe

Homophobes will not know how to act when they are

with a homosexual. Someone who can supply that
knowledge is a person who does not fear
homosexuals. If you have close friends who are open
minded about sexual orientations, you can ask them
how they view homosexuality. Allow them to explain
how they get along with homosexuals. From their
experiences and opinions, you can get an assurance
that homosexuals are really just normal people, with
unconventional practices.

Step 2: Keep an Open Mind

To
understand homosexuality, the logical first
step is to keep an open mind. You don't have to
necessarily immerse yourself in homosexual
communities from the get go. A simple
research about gays and lesbians is a start. You
can use the Internet to know the term's nonStep

can approach some of the homos for chitchat.
You will then realize that many gays and
lesbians are enterprising and strong willed,
which are pretty notable characteristics.
