Denise Darcell Reed was born January 16, 1954. She was the youngest daughter of Mattie Mae Mobley-Thompson and Alfonso Gilette of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Mae Mobley Thompson; father, Alfonso Gilette; brothers, Maynard “Count” Reed, and Alfonso Edgar Gilette Jr; sisters, Sakinah “Betty Jean” Reed, and Sharon Reed; Aunt Idelia “Dee Dee” Yarborough and niece Michelle Reed.
Denise was a devout Catholic who was raised in the West End in the Lincoln Courts. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Seton High School. She also attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated from the Athenaeum of Cincinnati in the A.M.E.N. Lay Pastoral Ministry Program. During her life she worked for the City of Cincinnati’s Recreation Commission and she also worked for Preserving Affordable Housing as an administrative assistant.
She was active in many activities and hobbies but her passion was making herself available to do God’s work. She taught Sunday School at St. Joseph Catholic Church for many, many years and volunteered her time and heart to various committees within the church.
The Lord called Denise home on June 11, 2015, while she was at home, and she answered His call. She leaves us all, for this is a journey that we must all take, and each must go alone. It’s all part of the Master’s plan, a step on the road to home.
She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Seneca Reed and Talibra Reed; five grandchildren, Briyana Turnagem, Seneca D. Reed, Annysa Reed, Eriyanna Redden and Selana Reed; four nephews, Keith Goosby, Darren Goosby, Demont Goosby and Stanley Dixon, Jr. and a host of other loving family and friends.

Id like to talk with you today There are so many things That we didnt get to say. I know how much you care for me And how much I care for you And each time that I think of you, I know youll miss me too. An angel came and took you by the hand and said Your place is ready in Heaven far above. And you had to leave behind All those you dearly loved. You had so much to live for; You had so much to do. It still seems impossible that God has taken you. And though your life on earth is past, In Heaven it starts anew. Youll live for all eternity, Just as God has promised you. And though youve walked through Heavens gate We are never far apart, For every time I think of you Youre right here, deep within my heart. _________________________________________

Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
Or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a floral piece, If so, we saw it there; Perhaps you were not there at all, Just thought of us that day, Whatever you did to console our hearts, We thank you so much whatever the part.
