opticlobesbecauseoftheirintimateconnectionwiththeoptictracts.Thethalamushasmultiple
functions.Thefibersofthemediallemniscustakeorigininthegracileandcuneatenucleiofthe
medullaoblongataandasinternalarcuatefiberstheycrosstotheoppositesideinthesensory
decussation.Thecerebellumiscomprisedofsmalllobesandreceivesinformationfromthebalance
systemoftheinnerearsensorynervesandtheauditoryandvisualsystems.Theuppersurfaceofthe
superiortemporalgyruswhichextendsintothelateralfissureiscalledthetransversetemporalgyrus
andistheprimaryauditorycortex.
