GENERAL

1.1

WORKS INCLUDED

1.1.1

This section covers the supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of the liquid
ring vacuum pump and the associated accessories.

1.1.2

The equipment described in this specification shall be suitable for continuous operation in
heavy-duty service requiring minimal maintenance.

1.1.3

Each system (equipment package) shall be designed and constructed based on skid-mounted
units. The equipment package shall be designed to facilitate easy installation with interface
points clearly identified and brought to the limits of the unit where possible.

1.1.4

Single points of connection shall be provided for each utility on each package. As much as
feasible, the package shall be prefabricated and shipped as a single unit.

1.1.5

Liquid ring systems shall include:

a.

Vacuum pump.

b.

Plate Heat Exchanger

c.

Flow Sensor / Monitoring Device

d.

Chilled water control valve

e.

Temperature indicator / transmitter

f.

Solenoid drain valve

g.

Air / Water Separator c/w Tanks with level controls and silencers

Accessories and piping

1.2

LIQUID RING VACUUM PUMP DESIGN

1.2.1

The (2-stage) liquid ring vacuum pump shall come with only one integrated two-stage impeller.

1.2.2

The pumps shall design with conical porting. Conical porting allows for large ports which
results in better water handling and higher efficiency at high vacuum when compared to a
similarly sized flat sided pump. The larger conical ports allow the pump to condense larger
quantities of incoming saturated vapors.

1.2.3

The pump shall employ the gas scavenging feature to eliminate any issue of residual gas reentering at the low pressure inlet; therefore improves the performance at high vacuum.

1.2.4

For ease of maintenance, the bearings is being put outboard where they can be accessed without
disassembly of the pump.

1.2.5

The pump heads and bodies are assembled with body flanges instead of through bolt
construction so they can be serviced without having to be rebuilt vertically.

1.2.6

The shaft sealing is accomplished with a packed stuffing box with lantern rings. The packing
can be replaced without disassembly of the pump.

1.3

DRIVE METHOD

1.3.1

The liquid ring vacuum pump shall be direct drive only. Belt or gear box drive is not allowed.

1.3.2

The liquid ring vacuum pump motor shall be come with variable speed drives.

1.4

AIR / WATER SEPARATOR

1.4.1

The air / water separator shall be constructed in such a manner that it can be disassembled in
two portions to facilitate the cleaning of its internals.

1.4.2

An automatic drain system shall be installed to allow it to maintain the quality of the service
water automatically.

1.4.3

An integrated float make-up valve shall be installed to top up water as and when the pump
requires.

1.4.4

Level indication for the air / water separator tank shall be provided

1.5

BUFFER TANK

1.5.1

The vacuum buffer tank shall be designed to ASME Section VIII, Div. 1, without "U" Stamp
and suitable to be integrated with a moisture extraction system.
