SPEAKER PROFILES
Alvin YEO, Senior Counsel, is the Senior Partner of WongPartnership. His main areas
of practice are banking and corporate disputes, insolvency and restructuring, and
construction and civil engineering matters. Alvin also has extensive experience
in arbitration proceedings both in Singapore and in the region, primarily in
corporate, commercial and infrastructure disputes.
He is a member of the Court of the SIAC, the ICC Commission on Arbitration,
the Court of the LCIA, a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and on
the panel of arbitrators of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the
Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Korean Commercial Arbitration
Board, the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and the South China
International Economic Trade Arbitration Commission. Alvin has served on various
public committees which undertook comprehensive reviews of the legal services
sector. He is a member of the Appeals Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority
of Singapore (MAS). Alvin also serves on the boards of various public companies in
Singapore, and is an elected Member of Parliament.
Tatsuya Nakamura, General Manager of Arbitration and Mediation Departments,
Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA)
Prof. Tatsuya Nakamura is the General Manager of Arbitration and Mediation
Departments of the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association as well as a Professor
of Law, Faculty of Law of Kokushikan University where he teaches International
Dispute Resolution, Arbitration Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Professor
Nakamura is also a lecturer for the Graduate School of Law, Kyushu University,
Fukuoka and Keio Law School, Keio University. In 2009, he was a Visiting Scholar
at the University of Sydney. He has written extensively on the law and practice of
international arbitration.
Yoshiaki Muto, Partner, Baker & McKenzie
Yoshiaki Muto has two decades of experience handling international corporate
transactions and dispute matters. He is currently the Managing Partner and
& McKenzie. Mr. Muto was recommended as a dispute resolution practitioner in
Japan by PLC Which Lawyer and Global Counsel 3000, and was recently named
his practice in the areas of domestic and international dispute resolution,
including litigation and arbitration, corporate investigation and compliance. He
also advises on international trade, general corporate and commercial matters,
including those pertaining to corporate law, contract law and competition law. Mr.
Muto has acted for clients in a wide range of industries, including Japanese and
particularly focuses on the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

Kelvin was called to the Singapore Bar in 2001. In 2006, he chambered in Essex
Court Chambers where he worked with leading English Queens Counsel. In 2007,
he clerked with Justice Paul Walker of the Royal Courts of Justice in London. In

including the Indonesian National Board of Arbitration (BANI) and the Cambodian
National Arbitration Committee. He is a Vice-President of APRAG and an Advisory
Committee member of the China-ASEAN Legal Research Center. A Master of the
Bench of the Inner Temple. Visiting Professor at universities in several countries
(Civil Law and Common Law). Editorial board member of legal journals including
Arbitration (CIArb); Asian International Arbitration Journal; Business Law
International; Butterworths Journal of International Banking & Financial Law;
Dispute Resolution International and Maritime Risk International.
Chris Bailey, Partner, Dispute Resolution, Ashurst
Chris is a Partner in Ashursts Dispute Resolution practice in Tokyo. He has been
practicing in Asia since 2006, with over 5 years of service in Japan. Chris is
highly experienced in litigation, arbitration and all forms of alternative dispute
resolution. As a Tokyo based outbound dispute specialist, Chris has been involved
in international/cross-border disputes and regulatory matters across a wide range
of sectors, but the core of his practice concerns energy and resources. Since
arriving in Asia back in 2006, Chris time has been almost exclusively in Tokyo,
including a two-year secondment with one of Japans leading trading companies,
but has also included a year on-the-ground in South East Asia. Chris spent his
early career as a commercial litigator in London acting in international energy
disputes often before the Commercial Court at the Royal Courts of Justice. He
has gone on to act in a wide variety of substantial commercial disputes before not
only the English, but also the Guernsey, Japanese, Singapore, Thai and US courts;
and in arbitration under the auspices of, amongst others, institutions such as the
ICC and JCAA. Chris has also been involved various forms of alternative dispute
resolution, including mediations and expert determinations. On the regulatory
front, Chris has been involved in full-scale corruption investigations involving the
US DOJ, the UK SFO and the Nigerian EFCC and arising out of transactions in Africa
and the Middle East.
