Debbie Phillips
ATHENS – State Representative Debbie Phillips today released the schedule for her 2010 Listening
Tour. The meetings will begin on March 4th in McConnelsville and run through April 17th in Bartlett.
During the meetings, residents can share their opinions, concerns and priorities with Rep. Phillips and
help to shape her priorities as she works to represent the area in Columbus.
“I am excited about launching the Listening Tour and hope to hear from lots of people. I’ve been working
hard over the past year to ensure that southeastern Ohio has a strong voice in the Ohio legislature, and to
be responsive to local people throughout the district,” said Rep. Phillips. “The listening tour will help me
to stay in touch with the issues that matter most to my constituents.”
Rep. Phillips continued, “Since the beginning of my term, I have reached out to hear from local folks
through quarterly roundtable discussions in each county, and I am excited to take that to the next level
through this listening tour. I believe it’s important to reach out actively to hear from people, rather than
waiting for them to come to me, and I look forward for the chance to hear firsthand about local priorities
for the Statehouse.”
The tour will consist of 26 community meetings and 4 county roundtables. The community meetings will
be an open-topic format for residents to share their concerns and priorities with Rep. Phillips. The
roundtables will continue to serve as a forum for local citizens, elected officials, economic development
leaders, education leaders and other officials to work together with Rep Phillips to ensure the southeastern
Ohio is getting what it needs to succeed.
