Overview
Organisation Behaviour is a foundation course to understand
behaviour of people in Organisations. It deals with people and their
behaviour from three perspectives: as an individual, as a team
member and from the perspective of the organisation and the
environment it exists in. It incorporates the application of principles
of Psychology, Sociology, Social Psychology and Anthropology to
understand and mould the behaviour of people in organisations. The
course will cover aspects related to Motivation, Perception and
Leadership, Stress, Power & Politics, Teams and Groups etc.

Requirements
The students are required to come prepared for class. Each student
is expected to:
1. Have read the concerned chapters in the text book before
coming to class
2. Ensure case studies circulated in advance have been read and
understood. Students will be expected to submit a one-page
summary of their reading before start of class, individually.
3. Groups of 5 or more will be formed. There will be individual and
group work.

Evaluation
A 5-point evaluation scale, common to all courses at SOIL will be
used
ROLE MODEL: A student who consistently performs with an ability to
teach others the concepts and fundamentals of Organisation
Behaviour
ACCOMPLISHED: A student who has mastered not only the basics
but the application of the principles taught in the subject
COMPETENT: A student who understands the concepts of
Organisation Behaviour as taught in class
BEGINNER: A student who is clear about some of the concepts and
principles but requires guidance and support to be able to apply
them
NOVICE: A student who puts in the effort but nevertheless struggles
to understand the subject

Components of Evaluation:

General Expectations from Students:
1. Students will be present for all classes unless they have been
granted leave in accordance with the Leave Protocol
2. Assignments are submitted on time and as per specifications
3. Students come prepared for the classes having completed
their pre-reads
4. All students contribute equally to assignments required to be
carried out in teams
5. Students understand and apply the principles enshrined in
the 5 Pillars of SOIL
