Welcome to Safety Park

Safety Park
An Introduction

Making sure each of us goes home safely to our families is what

matters most. So whether you work in an office or in an
industrial facility, we plan to make safety a part of what we do
every day.

Safety Park An Introduction

Safety park was created by Bunge Trichy team to bring in more

safety awareness among all the employees by easy,
understandable visual models based on the potential job
hazards & exposures in the current processes, use of safety
appliances and safe guards, and learn to protect accidents at
work place.
Key principles adopted in the Models are based on 10 elements
of Bunge Life Saving Rules and High potential Exposures.
All models are created from the unused material at the scrap
yard.

Let us join hands in building

A
Safety Culture

Inauguration of Safety Park

During the recent visit by Mr. Mike Goettl,

Bunge Asia CEO the park was inaugurated
formally

Heinrich Theory

Mr. Heinrich changed the world of safety

fundamentals forever with his pioneering
work in the 1930s. These models are based
on his Accident Pyramid theory and 5Es of
safety
(i.e,
Elimination,
Engineering,
Education, Encouragement and Enforcement)

5 E s of Safety

Accident Causation# Domino Theory

Accidents result from a chain of

sequential events, metaphorically
like a line of dominoes falling over.
When one of the dominoes falls, it
triggers the next one, and the
nextbut removing a key factor
(such as an unsafe condition or an
unsafe act) prevents the start of
the chain reaction.

This model explains that No money can replace the value of

human Limbs

Guards are meant to protect you, Not the machine

Do not Learn Safety by Accident

Personal Protective Equipment

Personal protective equipment imposes a barrier between the

wearer/user and the working environment and reduce employee
exposure to hazards when engineering and administrative controls are
not feasible

This model explains the various Types of Machine Guards

This model describes Good & Bad Flange Joints

Bunge Life Saving Rules

Some safety exposures are so unforgiving that the consequences of violating

established procedure is the risk of serious injury or death to you or a co-worker.
Since 2001 the following five job hazards have accounted for more than 90
percent of fatalities at Bunge.
 Working at Height
 Mechanical and Electrical
 Mobile Equipment
 Confined Space/Bin Entry
 Hoisting and Hoisted Loads
To eliminate the potential risk to perform the job safely, Bunge designed 10 Life
Saving Rules and High Potential Exposures which need to be understood and
observed by all employees to prevent and protect them from serious injury or
death. Life saving rules are designed to be followed while doing any high risk
activities and routinely performed job across Bunge operations.

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 1

Working at height remains one of the

biggest causes of fatalities and major
injuries all over the world
An effective working at heights system
must be in place to control the risk of
falling where a person could fall 2
meters or more.

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 2

Effective lockout/tag out procedures save

lives, time and money by reducing workplace
accidents. Studies have shown that an
effective lockout/tag out program can reduce
accidents by 30-50 %.

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 3

No
Water!!

Maintenance
work in
progress

Safety devices must not be overridden, disabled or

bypassed without written authorization. This model
shows that maintenance work was taken in fire line
without authorization and when the fire occurred,
NO water in the line

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 4

Injuries and fatalities involving

confined spaces are frequent and we
recently had one such fatality in our
region
All confined space entrants must be
trained, confined space entry permit
executed and all requirements of the
permit shall be complied at all times.

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 5

Many destructive fires are started by

hot work.
Most our facilities have bulk storage of
flammable

substances

hence

authorization must be obtained and all

procedures shall be followed prior to
any hot work

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 6

All safe operating procedures shall

be followed to eliminate injuries or
fatalities while working with Mobile
equipment / vehicles

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 7

Never work or travel under any load that is suspended

by a crane or other lifting device and employees must
follow the instructions of the person in charge of the lift

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 8

Hazardous

chemicals

are

substances that may cause

serious harm to an individual if
it enters the body.
You

must

be

aware

of

materials you work with or

used in your work area and
follow all Safety precautions

We have Simplified MSDS in local language

Bunge Life Saving Rule # 9 & 10

Employees must never consume alcohol or illicit

drugs while at work, or attend work while
under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.

Colour Codes

In order to identify the contents

of

pipelines

carrying

fluids,

Color code was established to

promote greater safety, lessens
the

chances

of

error

and

reduces hazards involved in the

handling of material inside the
pipelines.

Traffic Safety

In India, every year, more than

1,00,000 personnel are killed in road
accidents, the total economic loss to
society on account of road accidents is
estimated at over $ 10 Billion

per

annum.
Road Safety is emerging as a major
social concern in the country and it
our responsibility to create awareness
on Road safety

The fire triangle is a simple model for understanding the necessary ingredients
for starting a fire, when you join three arrows together the fire is created

Safety First in all the Job we Do

We are going to stand for safety, and it starts with a personal

commitment from everyone at every level. We each have an
obligation to stop any activity we feel is unsafe and to speak up,
anywhere at any time. Voice your concerns. Tell your colleagues, tell
your manager, tell your operating company CEO or tell me.
