One of MSC Malaysias mandates is to bring the benets of

ICT to all Malaysians through the development of citizencentric applications. When the MSC Malaysia initiated the
Senang Dengan ICT (Easy with ICT), it was with the objective
of making the lives of the people easier, regardless of age,
location or background.
One of our greatest achievements in this area is the
implementation and delivery of the Multipurpose Smart Card
applications on the MyKad. Over 27 million citizens with
MyKad have created the necessary critical mass for a strong
digital infrastructure. Services such as Welfare Distribution,
Licensing & Benet Entitlement, Healthcare, Loyalty
Programme, etc. are carried out faster, more secure and
accessible through MyKad. Now more than 50 applications
are available utilising MyKad, and these further warrants new
products, services and solutions to be constantly developed.
Applications involving agro-information management
activities have enabled consumers and purchasers to know
the types of agri-produce and the locations of farmers
markets in Malaysia. These applications are complemented
by additional selling channels through web-based marketing
and Short Messaging Service (SMS). With these innovations,
this means that distance and geography are no longer
boundaries to a transaction, immediately expanding the
scope for marketing leading to increased monthly income.
The developments in ICT supporting MyKad have been
enhanced with the capability to perform dynamic loading of
applications on MyKad through a secured webbased Trusted Party Gateway (TPG) residing
at National Registration Department (NRD).
This infrastructure enables more agencies
and departments to easily adopt MyKadauthenticated applications for improved
service delivery using ICT.
It is vital for Malaysians to
be aware of the advantages of
ICT. MyKad is basically just
a card with a chip however
the applications that can be
installed in the chip make the
card priceless!
