Western Blot

The Western Blot (figure 1A) showed the expression of the protein tubulin at 0, 6, and 13

hours in samples of Artemia franciscana.

Figure 1: Two samples obtained by performing gel electrophoresis on samples of Artemia franciscana at 3 life stages (0h, 6h, and 13h). Image A
is an western blot film from group I that shows the expression of the protein Tubulin (indicated by arrows), as well as the Molecular Weight
marker Kaleidoscope Precision Plus Protein™ Standards, or “K”. Image B shows a polyacramide gel stained with Coomassie Blue, and the MW
marker Bio-Rad Low Range Molecular Weight Standards “M”. This shows the various proteins of differing molecular weight that are present at
different stages of development of Artemia franciscana.

Part II
1. Artemia expresses tubulin in all stages of life.
2. The estimated molecular weight of tubulin is approximately 50 kD. We know this because
of the MW marker of known weight that travelled approximately the same distance as
tubulin (5th, blue, 50 kD).
3. To determine if tubulin is produced in Drosophila:
