Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

watch and read news from digital material with correct pronunciation.

sequence the information correctly.
Success criteria :

Answer 4 Wh-questions based on the news.
ii.
State True or False of 5 statements given correctly. ( 4 out of 5 )
iii.
Rearrange information based on the text.
Activities:
Set-induction/ Starter
1. In a group of five, pupils solve the jigsaw puzzle on bully.
2. Each group says the letter behind the puzzle and all groups guess the
topic.
Pre-reading/ Learning Episode
1. Pupils watch the news through English Education Courseware Primary
School Year 5 about The Big Bully ( Button 1 ).
2. Pupils read silently.
While-reading:
1. A few pupils role play and read the news aloud with correct
pronunciation.
2. Other pupils listen to the news slide by slide.
3. Pupils answer Wh-questions by the teacher. ( Refer to the quiz in the
CD)
4. The teacher plays the story again and pauses so that pupils manage
to find the answers.
Post-reading: (group work)
1. Pupils state True or False based on English Education Courseware
Primary School Year 5 about The Big Bully (Edutainment / Button 3)
2. Pupils use traffic lights ( ice-cream sticks) , green for true and red for
false.

3. Pupils state the correct answers if the statements are false.

Arrange the sentences in correct order.

One of the drivers shouted at the driver for jumping queue but the other driver did not
bother.

One of the drivers used a baseball bat hit the other driver and he suffered serious
injuries .He fractured his left leg and hand.

The bully driver was caught by the police for causing serious injuries.

A minor vehicle collision occurred in the parking area. The two large vehicles were
involved.

Both the drivers got into a fight. The closed-circuit television recorded the fight.
