When to Use HSUPA FDE

Use the HSUPA FDE feature in the event of non line of sight (NLOS) propagation between the transmitter and
receiver, such as hotspots in cities and densely populated urban areas. The environments must meet the following
conditions:
The service rate of an HSUPA user with 2 ms TTI reaches 2.5 Mbit/s.
There is multipath propagation in the radio environments.

6.2 Required Information

Table 6-1 and Table 6-2 lists the data to obtain before deploying FDE.
Table 6-1 RNC counter
Counter Name

Description

VS.HSUPA.UE.Mean.TTI2ms

Average Number of HSUPA 2 ms TTI UEs in a Cell

Table 6-2 NodeB counters

Counter Name

Description

VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.3

Average number of 2 ms TTI HSUPA users at a rate in the range of

[1500 kbit/s,3000 kbit/s) in a cell

VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.4

Average number of 2 ms TTI HSUPA users at a rate in the range of

[3000 kbit/s,4000 kbit/s) in a cell

VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.5

Average number of 2 ms TTI HSUPA users at a rate in the range of

[4000 kbit/s,12000 kbit/s) in a cell

VS.HSUPA.FDE.UtilizeTimePermillage

Proportion of the time when HSUPA users use the FDE mode in a
cell

VS.HSUPA.Thruput

Total traffic volume of HSUPA users in a cell

VS.HSUPA.MeanBitRate

Average throughput of HSUPA users in a cell

VS.HSUPA.MeanBitRate.WithData

Average throughput of HSUPA users in a cell when data is

transmitted

VS.HSUPA.DataUserNum.Mean

Average number of HSUPA users that transmit data in a cell

For the DBS3800, BTS3812E, and BTS381 2AE

Counters VS.HSUPA.UE.Mean.TTI2ms, VS.HSUPA.DataUserNum.Mean, and
VS.HSUPA.MeanBitRate.WithData are used to check whether there are UEs that reach the rate
threshold (that is, 2.5 Mbit/s for a 2 ms TTI UE) of HSUPA FDE.
The rate threshold of HSUPA FDE is reached if the following conditions are met:
VS.HSUPA.UE.Mean.TTI2ms 1
VS.HSUPA.DataUserNum.Mean 2
S.HSUPA.MeanBitRate.WithData 4500 kbit/s
For the 3900 series base stations, BTS3902E, and BTS3803E
Counters VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.3, VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.4, and
VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.5 are used to check whether there are UEs that reach the rate threshold
(that is, 2.5 Mbit/s for a 2 ms TTI UE) of HSUPA FDE. If the sum of these counters is greater than or

Counters VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.3, VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.4, and

VS.HSUPA.TTI2msUserNumber.5 are used to check whether there are UEs that reach the rate threshold
(that is, 2.5 Mbit/s for a 2 ms TTI UE) of HSUPA FDE. If the sum of these counters is greater than or
equal to 1, there are UEs that reach the rate threshold of HSUPA FDE.
Counter VS.HSUPA.FDE.UtilizeTimePermillag is used to check whether HSUPA FDE is effective.
Counters VS.HSUPA.Thruput, VS.HSUPA.MeanBitRate, and VS.HSUPA.MeanBitRate.WithData are
used to evaluate the gains from HSUPA FDE.
