Water Plant Operator Trainees (2) Full time term - positions
(Potential of extending to one MBQ permanent position and one casual)
Job Summary:
Two (2) Water Plant Operator Trainees are required by the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte to participate in the
construction activities of the new water treatment plant, as employees of Peak Construction, for the duration of the
water plant project. At times the trainees will be required to travel to take the necessary training towards obtaining
their Class III Water Treatment Certification license.
Decisions regarding future positions will be determined after construction subject to funding resources and
availability. Typical duties and responsibilities as a Water Treatment Plant Operator include but are not limited to the
following:
The operation and monitoring of various systems and equipment to regulate water treatment and
distribution system
Monitoring and maintenance of all meters, gauges, instruments, machinery, equipment and plant systems
Monitoring and maintenance of all log sheets and records. Including budgets, and time sheets
Performance of daily raw and treated water sampling, data collection, and monitoring results to interpret
performance
Perform repairs to waterlines and/or machinery when required
Maintain communications between internal and external organizations
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Minimum requirement of O.S.S.D, and graduation from post-secondary program in a civil/construction or
relatable field preferred or
O.S.S.D and graduating from post-secondary program by June 2015
Knowledge and Skills:
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Willingness to train extensively
Must be able to work independently with a high degree of initiative and self-direction
Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to perform rigorous physical labour
Interest in water treatment processes and technology
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional analytical, critical thinking,
and problem solving skills
