REACTION PAPER:
Philippine Christian Universitys Vision and Mission Statement
As adage says Education is a treasure that cannot be stolen from you. this is what
I have heard from my grandmother and mother since when I was a child up to present
every time we talk about my studies. Their advice is like an alarm clock into my ears
because they never fail to remind me how important education is. I learned from them to
value the education that I have. The value of education depends upon the kind of quality of
education that an institution can give. Since an institution has task to provide an excellence
and highest quality education and to instill in the minds of the students the value of
character and service in preparation for the real world. The determining factor to test
whether the institution has it is to check its vision and mission.
The vision of Philippine Christian University (PCU) signifies a clear direction to
narrow the quality of life it has to offer. The focal point of the PCUs vision is faith, character
and service in building up and enhancing the quality of life. Today, there are so many
professionals or educated people in our society, but unfortunately, some of them neither
have character nor have passion for service. Like in our government most of its agencies,
the officials and employees are engaged in graft and corrupt practices, bribery and scam.
Take note they are educated and some of them have post graduate degrees. Yet they have
no values and respect from their positions. Again Faith, Character and Service are the core
vision of PCU which I believe these three words are things that our society needs from
professionals who are may be connected either in private or public service.
I admire PCU from its mission statement because it shows that the institution is
concern to the new generation and to the society as a whole. The institution is committed to
produce an education that will enhance the development of Christian character, to promote
academic excellence and the highest quality education, to be responsible to Philippine
needs and conditions, to foster international understanding and goodwill, and to support
the ecumenical movement. I do believe that PCU can do faithfully their part for the
attainment of their vision and mission statement. PCU will effectively serve their purpose by
help and provision of God. The mission statement implies that the PCUs goals would be
the gain of the students; one of those is that to provide a highest and excellence quality
education and Christian character. I trust the PCUs integrity when it comes to education
because it portrays Christ likeness from the administration, faculty and staff up to young
professionals they have shaped.
Lastly, when it comes to legal education in the Philippines. The PCU performs a vital
role in the society by providing a high quality legal education which can produce lawyers
who possess good character and Christian values that will uphold the constitution, obey the
laws and promote respect for law and legal processes for the society, for the legal
profession, for the courts and for the client.
