HP 1910-16G Switch configuration

Firstly, you need to have access to your switch. You may achieve a connection
to switch either via a Serial interface or an Ethernet interface.
In case you are connected via serial interface, you must have configure your
serial port with these settings: 38400,8,1,N which is a common shorthand
notation for a line speed baud rate at 38400bps, eight (8) data bits, no (N)
parity bit, and one (1) stop bit.
You should see this login screen

The default credentials for the login are:

Username:admin

Password: (empty, just hit the enter button)

Your screen now is shown like that

Now you must assign a network IP just to have a network access. To achieve
this goal enter the following command at the switch prompt (suppose that your
local network is 192.168.2.0/24).
<HP>ipsetup ip-address 192.168.2.10 255.255.255.0
Then you can access the web interface from a web browser at the IP you have
just specified above.
In case you are connected via Ethernet, you have to have your network
interface configured being part of the same network as the default IP of the
switch which is 169.254.2.68 as shown in the figure below. Then you can have
access though a web browser at location of the default IP of the switch, which
is eg: http://169.254.2.68

You should see this login screen

At the login interface you must enter with Username:admin, leave the
Password field empty and fill the field Verify Code with the displayed code to
the right of the text-field. The Verify Code is case insensitive.

After a successful login, the browser will direct you to the home page of the
switch. To configure your VLANs, you must hit the Network from the left
navigation menu, and then press the VLAN at the extended menu under
Network.

VLANs creation
To create your VLANs you choose the Create button from the horizontal
navigation bar that has been displayed. Afterwards, you enter the VLAN ID you
want to create and hit the Create button. If you want to create multiple VLANs,
you shall input the range of them, eg. The input 10-12 will create VLAN
ID:10, VLAN ID:11, VLAN ID:12.

After hitting the Create button, a list of all VLANs is reported.

The VLAN ID:0001 is the default VLAN of the Switch and you will use it to
handle the main communication port of the Switch.

VLAN port modification

To modify each port according to its role, hit the Modify VLAN button from
the horizontal navigation menu.

Then hit the Please select a VLAN ID and choose the VLAN you want to
modify from the drop down menu which has just appeared. Choose VLAN
ID:10 to continue.

You move on by selecting the mode of the port modification you want to make.
You can choose between three options (Untagged, Tagged, Not A Member).

Finally you choose the set of the ports that are included in the role you chose
in the previous step. In our example we choose port range from 1 to 4 to be
included as Untagged ports in VLAN ID:10.
The figure below shows us the default state (0 ports) of the ports which are
participating in VLAN ID:10.

After you choose each port by hitting its number, the port turn in aqua color
(port selected mode). Then hit the Apply button.

A pop-up windows is shown to validate the changes you applied.

The state of the ports after our Untagged appliance is the below. The color of
its port inherits the role it represents.

Afterwards, you must set the main communication port (eg 16) to be the trunk
port for our VLAN ID:10. So, you go up and choose the green square Tagged
radio button and then choose the port 16 And hit apply. The final state of the
VLAN ID:10 is shown below.

You shall make the above procedure as many times as your VLANs should be.
Finally, the main communication port (port 16) must have absolutely the
Untagged setting for the VLAN ID: 0001 and every other VLAN ID you want to
be truncated as Tagged set.

Saving the configuration

After all changes has taken place, you must hit the SAVE button from the main
horizontal bar.

And confirm our choice in the pop-up window that appears.

After configuration saving, the switch is directly operational. No reboot or

shutdown is taking place.
