Prayers for

Protection
From the Oblate Knights of Christ the King
Donation Requested $5.00
Introduction:
This book is a small collection of prayers that
have helped people under attack for centu-
ries. If you are working with us as clients, we
may suggest certain prayers just for you and
your situation. But some prayers are VIP’s
(Very Important Prayers). We suggest that you
use the VIP’s daily (or more often if needed)
to help calm and settle your situation.

If a particular prayer distresses you, just pass it

on and use one that works better for you. This is
all about your connection with God. That’s
always personal, special, and different for
everyone.

Prayers for Protection

A nyone who’s ever been under demonic

attack knows that connection to God
is our only defence. A huge part of
our connection to God is how we pray. But
the oldest question is, “How do we pray?”

There is the prayers of the heart, the prayers of

the spirit and the prayers that we learn by wrote.

The prayers of the heart are our outpouring of

how we feel. They are a gift we can give to God.
God always honors those. We can trust God with
everything, our love, our pain, our anger, our
hopes and our dreams. Just tell Him how you feel.

The prayers of the Spirit are a gift God gives to us.

We are told when words fail us that God’s Spirit
prays for us without words. We can trust the Holy
Spirit to pray for us when we’re past words.

The prayers we learn by wrote are tools to help

shape our thoughts, feelings and ideas. They
honor God if nothing else as an affirmation of
where we want to go with God.

All prayer is good. Any way we talk to God,

honors His pulls us closer to His presence.
M emorized prayers aren’t always in
everyone’s religious experience.
Some people feel they are less
meaningful. But we’ve found them very helpful
for several reasons.

We can cling to them in times of stress, fear,

panic, loss and dread. They calm us. A prayer
memorized helps us to focus on God instead of
the dreadful and terrifying things that may be
going on around us.

They cover the basis of things we need to re-

member to say. God takes us as we are. The devil
is much more legalistic, and will follow exactly
what we say in Christ’s name. So we want to get
what we say right. Wording really counts and it’s
wise to have prayers memorized that you know
will help.

Some of the prayers in here are in Latin. We don’t

know why, but it seems they’re particularly
effective against demonic attack. It may be some
things just don’t translate well. Don’t be afraid of
Latin. It’s an old language, but the things we fight
against are old, and they fear it.

Memorized prayer can change how we feel about

things. The things we say help create the way we
feel.
It may or may not change God’s mind. But it
does for a certainty change ours. It helps us think
in different ways. It helps us grow in the image
of Christ.

Prayers to saints or angels

We do not suggest prayers to any other created
being. But we know that there are holy beings
that are in the presence of God. We are told that
angels and saints pray before the throne of God.
They see God face to face. In the same way you
would ask us to pray for you, ask them.

Prayers of Saints
These people fought the same battles, had the
same fears and pains we have. We can learn about
their relationship with God through the prayers
they’ve used.

Prayers to Mary
Before Jesus died, he turned to John and told
Him that Mary was his mother now. In that
moment, she became our mother too. In their
lives, He never refused anything she asked of him,
even if he thought it was silly, like the wine at the
wedding at Cana. So when we pray the Hail Mary,
we’re asking for her to pray for us. It’s His mom.
He listens. Besides, demons really fear Mary.
When we ask Mary to be with us, demons leave.
The Lord’s Prayer

O ur Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
And the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Why?
This is the most perfect prayer that Jesus taught us. It is
considered a layman’s prayer for spiritual deliverance
since it asks that we be delivered from evil.
VIP Either in English or Latin
Pater Noster
The Lord’s Prayer in Latin

P ater noster qui es in coelis,

Sanctificetur nomen tuum;
Adveniat regnum tuum,
Fiat voluntas tua,
Sicut in coelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
Et dimitte nobis debita nostra,
Sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem
Sed libera nos a malo.
Amen.

Why Latin?
We don’t know why, but prayers in Latin are especially
effective against demons and demonic attacks.
Hail Mary

H ail Mary full of grace

The Lord is with you
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is
The fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Why?
Jesus listens to what His mom asks of Him. We can ask
her to pray for us. VIP
Ave Maria
Hail Mary in Latin

A ve Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.

Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
Et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
Ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc,
Et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.
Psalm 23

T he LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in
The paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk
Through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
In the presence of mine enemies: thou
Anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
Follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell
In the house of the LORD for ever.
King James Version (KJV)

Why? To remind us that Jesus is always with us in danger

and trouble.
I nto your hands, O Most High,
I commend my spirit
For you have redeemed me,
O Loving God of truth.
Keep us as the apple of your eye;
Hide us under the shadow of your wings.
Holy God, have mercy.
Holy Christ, have mercy.
Holy God, have mercy.
Bless God who dwells within us.
Thanks be to God.
May the souls of the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God rest in peace.
And may light perpetual shine upon them.
Amen.

Compline, 1979 Book of Common Prayer

Why? To ask God’s protection over us as we sleep.

Isaiah 12: 2-6

S urely, it is God who saves me;

I will trust in him and not be afraid.
For the Lord is my stronghold and my
Sure defense,
And He will be my Savior.
Therefore you shall draw water with rejoicing
From the springs of salvation.
And on that day you shall say,
Give thanks to the Lord and call upon his Name;
Make his deeds known among the peoples;
See that they remember that
His Name is exalted.
Sing praises of the Lord,
For he has done great things,
And this is known in all the world.
Cry aloud, inhabitants of Zion, ring out your joy,
For the great one in the midst of you
Is the Holy One of Israel.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
Is now, and ever shall be,
World without end.
Why? Thanking God really annoys demons.
Anima Christi

S oul of Christ, sanctify me.

Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds, hide me.
Separated from Thee let me never be.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
At the hour of death, call me.
To come to Thee, bid me,
That I may praise Thee in the company
Of Thy saints, for all eternity.

Amen.

Why? When we ask Jesus to be this intimate with us, demons flee.
Guardian Angel Prayer

A ngel of God,
My guardian dear,
To whom God’s love
Commits me here,
Ever this day be at my side
To light and guard,
To rule and guide.

Amen.

Why?
Our guardian angel is assigned to help and guard over us and
we can and should ask for his help.
St. Michael’s Prayer

S aint Michael the Archangel,

Defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness
and Snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
And do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
By the Power of God.
Cast into hell, Satan and all evil spirits,
Who roam throughout the world seeking the
ruin of souls.

Amen.

Why?
Through Jesus we can ask St. Michael to fight for us a he did
for God when he threw Satan out of heaven
Let Nothing Disturb Thee

L et nothing disturb thee,

Nothing affright thee;
All things are passing;
God never changeth;
Patient endurance
Attaineth to all things;
Who God possesseth
In nothing is wanting;
Alone God sufficeth.

St. Teresa of Avila

Why?
St. Teresa knew about being frightened, ill and friend-
less. She knew God would bring her everything she
needed.
Prayer of St. Francis

L ord, make me
an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Why?
St. Francis spent his life showing us how to show God’s
love to unlovable people. When we love people with
God’s love it spills back into our own lives.
St. Patrick’s Breastplate

I arise today through a mighty strength,

the invocation of the Trinity,
through belief in the Threeness,
through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.

I arise today through

the strength of Christ with his Baptism,
through the strength of His Crucifixion
with His Burial,
through the strength of His Resurrection
with His Ascension,
through the strength of His descent
for the Judgment of Doom.

I arise today through the strength

of the love of Cherubim,
in obedience of Angels,
in the service of the Archangels,
in hope of resurrection
to meet with reward, in prayers of Patriarchs,
in predictions of Prophets,
in preachings of Apostles,
in faiths of Confessors,
in innocence of Holy Virgins,
in deeds of righteous men.

I arise today, through the strength of Heaven;

light of Sun, brilliance of Moon,
splendor of Fire, speed of Lightning,
swiftness of Wind, depth of Sea, stability of
Earth, firmness of Rock.

I arise today,
through God’s strength to pilot me:
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to secure me:
against snares of devils,
against temptations of vices,
against inclinations of nature,
against everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and anear, alone and in a crowd.
I summon today all these powers
between me and these evils:
against every cruel and merciless power
that may oppose my body and my soul,
against incantations of false prophets,
against black laws of heathenry,
against false laws of heretics,
against craft of idolatry,
against spells of witches, smiths and wizards,
against every knowledge
that endangers man’s body and soul.
Christ to protect me today against poisoning,
against burning, against drowning,
against wounding,
so that there may come abundance in reward.

Christ with me,

Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ in breadth,
Christ in length,
Christ in height, Christ in the heart
of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth
of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today through a mighty strength,

the invocation of the Trinity,
through belief in the Threeness,
through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
Salvation is of the Lord.

Salvation is of the Lord.

Salvation is of Christ.
May Thy Salvation, O Lord, be ever with us.
Amen.

Why:
This is St. Patrick’s prayer he used against the occult and
evil. It’s a potent prayer for Jesus’s presence and
protection. VIP
The Fatima Prayer

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins,

save us from the fires of hell, and lead
all souls to Heaven, especially those in
most need of Thy mercy.

Why:
Given to the visionaries at Fatima in 1917. This prayer is
a good prayer to offer for people who cannot pray for
themselves.
Prayer for the
Dismissal of Demons

I n the name of Jesus Christ,

Son of the living God
You are commanded
To fly to the foot of the cross
And be disposed of according to His Holy will.
Harm no one in your going.

Why:
In Jesus’s name we can request this. If it’s a harmless
entity it goes to Jesus. If it means harm it also goes to
Jesus and either way we’re safe and have harmed no one
innocent.
Constant Prayers
T he Bible tells us to pray constantly. That’s
hard. How do we focus where we are, and
still continue to pray at all times?
There are several ways to do that. One is to
practice the presence of Christ.

A kitchen monk named Brother Lawrence

realized that everything he did all day long as
he peeled potatoes and cut up onions was in
front of the presence of Christ. Whatever he did,
he gave to Jesus, who was always with him. He
called that practising the constant presence of
God

Mother Teresa of Calcutta said that no small

thing we give to God is small because when we
give it to Him it becomes infinite.

St Therese of Lisieux said that what matters is

not great deeds but great love.

Saints are people who have learned to live

closer with God. We can learn a lot from their
lives, struggles and thoughts.

If we practise the presence and awareness of

Christ moment to moment, we pull ourselves
closer and closer to God.
Breath Prayers
O ne way to pray constantly is to pray in
and out as we breathe. We take a short
prayer, say half of it as we breathe in,
half as we breathe out. Here are some wonderful
breath prayers.

Lord God, Son of God, (Breathe in)

Have mercy on me, a sinner(Breathe out)

O God, make speed to save us. (Breathe in)

O Lord, make haste to help us. (Breathe out)

Because he is bound to me in love, therefore will

I deliver him; (Breathe in) I will protect him, be-
cause he knows my Name. (Breathe out)

I choose to live beyond regret (Breathe in)

And let You recreate my life. (Breathe out)
St. Brendon

Jesus Mary I love you, (Breathe in)

Save souls. (Breathe out)
Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One,

(Breathe in)
Have mercy upon us. (Breathe out)

Confessions

W hy do we confess our sins? The

only thing that keeps us from
God is tour sins.

Are we sinners? Well, yes. We are. We all fall

short of the Glory of God. (Romans 3: 23) But
Jesus loves us, died for us, and forgives every-
thing we confess to Him.

How do we know something is wrong? Here are

some questions we can ask ourselves that make
it clear if we’ve done or not done something that
separates us from God and His love.

Does it hurt/embarrass/ humiliate someone?

Does it hurt/embarrass/ humiliate us?
Does it leave us ashamed?
Is it against scripture?
Is it illegal?
Would your church be concerned about it?
Is it something you need to keep secret?
Does it take things away from rightful owners?
Does it leave you or someone else feeling
jealous, left out, angry or spiteful?
Not everything on this list is necessarily a sin.
But it points to something within us that is
painful, off, or wrong. It’s always right to ask
Jesus to help us with these things.

Anything we confess to God is utterly forgiven,

and forgotten. The Bible says God puts our sins
as far as east is from west from us. It is as if we
never had done them. Once we’ve confessed,
we are to forgive ourselves and forget our own
sins as God as forgiven and forgotten.

You may want to make your confession to a

priest or to a minister, but that’s not essential.
You can also make your confession to any
other Christian, or simply to God Himself. If
you have a church that practices confession,
follow their guidelines.Ask for their help.

Many people who are under demonic attack

find it a good idea to say an act of contrition as
part of our evening prayers. If we go to bed
with our sins confessed, our sins, the only
things that can separate us from God, are gone.
We’re safely in God’s hands.

God forgives us. In turn, He asks us to forgive

others and pray for them. We don’t have to like
them. But in obedience, we pray forgivenenss
for them. It releases us.
Act of Contrition

O my God,

I am heartily sorry
For having offended Thee, And I detest all my sins,
Because I dread the loss of heaven
And the pains of hell,
But most of all
Because they offend Thee, my God,
Who art all good
And deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve,
With the help of Thy grace,
To confess my sins,
To do penance,
And to amend my life.
Amen.

Why we have different confession prayers?

We all grieve for our sins in different ways. Any way we
want to confess our sins to Jesus is fine.
VIP Pick one and use it daily.
Confession

M ost merciful God,

We confess that we have sinned
Against you
In thought, word, and deed,
By what we have done,
And by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
Have mercy on us and forgive us;
That we may delight in your will,
And walk in your ways,
To the glory of your Name.
Amen.

Night Prayers

K eep watch, dear Lord,

With those who work, or watch, or
Weep this night,
And give your angels charge
Over those who sleep.
Tend the sick, Lord Christ;
Give rest to the weary,
Bless the dying,
Soothe the suffering,
Pity the afflicted,
Shield the joyous;
And all for your love’s sake.
Amen.

1979 American Book of Common Prayer

Why pray before bed time?

Most often, demonic attacks happen when we’re uncon-
scious or half awake. It’s good to remind ourselves of
God’s love.
VIP: Pick one and use it daily.
G uide us waking,
O Lord, and guard us sleeping;
that awake we may watch with Christ,
and asleep we may rest in peace.

1979 American Book of Common Prayer

I f I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me,

And the light
Around me turn to night,”
Darkness is not dark to you,
O Lord;
The night is as bright as the day;
Darkness and light
To You are both alike.
Psalm 139:10,11
