8 PROVISION OF PRODUCTION (DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS)

The IM development will undergo five (5) stages. The development is supervised by the Instructional Materials Development
Board (IMDB), an internal body composed of the BSU faculty, the composition of which is determined by the Office of the Vice President
for Academic Affairs.

CONCEPTUALIZATION. This is the first step in IM development. which involves the determination of whether the resources needed for
IM development, such as manpower, methodology, materials and machines are, available. It intends to hatch a plan The
conceptualization process ends with the approval of the facultys plan to develop an IM, by the administration through Instructional
Materials Development Board.
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT. This is the 2nd step of the IM development process. The design and development of IMs involves capacity
building for the IM writers to ensure competence in developing IMs. This will involve varied strategies that include but not limited to training and
workshops to make certain that there will be instantaneous output such as templates for review, approval and pilot-testing.

IMPLEMENTATION. .This step includes the formalization of the agreement between the faculty and the IMDB and the actual writing of the contents
of the IMs (could be by unit). In writing the IM, the writer is encouraged to take note of technical quality control such as editing, proof reading,
formatting, checking for plagiarism and grammar. After writing, try-out then revision of the IM is done. The revision of the IM is based on the
thorough analysis of the result of the try-out. Then final examination of the IM is done before printing of a sample copy. This sample copy will be
examined to determine the accuracy of the specification for printing (color, font, design, etc.)

MONITORING and EVALUATION. .

This stage includes the review of the results of the try-out that needs to be included in the revision. It also includes the final testing of the complete
IM.and finally the inspection of the sample printed material.

FINALIZATION AND CLOSURE

This is the final stage in IM development. The finished IM is finally approved by the president for mass production. After
approval, the IM is endorsed to the University Press for mass production. Sample copies are stored in the IMDB office. And finally,
the IMDB promotes the IM through book launching or media.
