thresholdcountryandthatinandofitselfcreateshugeinstabilityintheregion.
Itsnotthattheytomorrowcanmakeabomb,buttheycanmaketheyhavethe
capabilitywithbreakouttechnologytodoitinrelativelyshortorder.Andthat
sendsasignaltotheSaudisandothers.SoweregoingtoseeIthinkthedanger
oftheproliferationnowincreasebecauseofthis.Allofthisisdonebytheway
withoutanyconsiderationfortheirmissilelaunchcapabilitiesthathaveimproved
withtheireffortstopromotethroughstateresourcesterrorismintheregion,
creatinginstability.SoIthinkitsthewrongapproachfromthebeginningandI
thinkitsabadoutcome.

PaperStatement,07/14/2015:Thenuclearagreementannouncedbythe
ObamaAdministrationtodayisadangerous,deeplyflawed,andshort
sighteddeal.
AcomprehensiveagreementshouldrequireIrantoverifiablyabandon
notsimplydelayitspursuitofanuclearweaponscapability.
Basedoninitialreportsandanalysis,itappearsthisagreementdoesnot
cutoffallofIranspathwaystoanuclearweaponinfact,overtimeit
pavesIranspathtoabomb.Mostofthekeyrestrictionslastforonly10to
15years.Evenbeforethedealexpires,itcouldallowIrantodevelopan
industrialscaleenrichmentprogramandcontinueitsR&Donadvanced
centrifugesanddevelopmentofanICBM.
ThedealdoesnotrequireIrantocomecompletelycleanupfrontabout
possiblemilitarydimensionsofitsnuclearprogramorincludetrue
anytime/anywhereinspectionsnecessaryforanuclearprogramshrouded
indeceptionandlies.
PresidentObamahasacknowledgedtheagreementwouldendtheUnited
Nations'conventionalarmsembargo,acriticaltooltocombatIrans
supportforterrorismanddestabilizingactivitiesintheregion.
Thedealwouldprovidemorethan$100billioninsanctionsreliefthatwill
breathenewlifeintoIran'smalevolentandcorruptregime,enablingits
projectionofterrorandpoweraswellasitsrepressionoftheIranian
peoplewhoaspirefor,anddeserve,amoredemocraticfuture.
TheclericalleadersinTehranroutinelypreachdeathtoAmericaand
deathtoIsraelandthroughtheiractsofterror,theymeanit.Wemust
takethesethreatsseriouslyandshouldnotbaseanyagreementsonthe
hopetheirbehaviorwillmoderateovertime.
ThepeopleofIran,theregion,Israel,America,andtheworlddeserve
betterthanadealthatconsolidatesthegriponpoweroftheviolent
revolutionaryclericswhoruleTehranwithanironfist.

moment.ThePresidentcalledmelatelastnighttotellmethatagreement

BasedonwhatIknownow,andIwillbebeingbriefedassoonasIfinish

theUnitedStateshasagreedtonotonlylegitimizeandperpetuatethe
Iraniannuclearprogram,butalsotofurtherarmandenrichthebrutal
theocraticregimethathasoppressedtheIranianpeopleformorethan
thirtyyearsaregimethatiswrongfullyholdingUnitedStatescitizens
captive,thatissponsoringradicalIslamicterrorismacrosstheglobe,and
thatregularlypromotesthedestructionofbothIsraelandAmerica
throughoutitsstreets.Despitethesefacts,itseemsPresidentObama
wouldconcedealmostanythingtogetanydealevenaterribledeal

fromtheIslamicRepublicofIransSupremeLeaderAliKhamenei.Under
thetermsofthisdeal,Iranwillretainallofitscentrifuges,onethirdof
whichwillcontinuetospin.Ratherthanthemostintrusiveinspections
regimeinhistorythatwewerepromised,IAEAinspectorsmustpetition
themullahstovisitsensitivesites,andwaitfortwoweeksfortheir
permission.Inafinal,shockingconcession,theUnitedStateswillsupport
liftingoftheUnitedNationsarmsembargosthatrestricttheIranian
ballisticmissileprogramandarmstrafficking.Andinreturn,billionsof
dollarsofeconomicreliefwillflowtoTehran.Yet,inhisremarksthis
morning,thePresidentglossedoverthetruthaboutIransworldleading

agreement,PresidentObamahasabandonedthebipartisanprinciples
thathaveguidedournonproliferationpolicyandkepttheworldsafefrom
nucleardangerfordecades.Insteadofmakingtheworldsafer,thisdeal
willlikelyleadtoanucleararmsraceintheworldsmostdangerous
region.Whatsworse,thedealrewardstheworldsleadingstatesponsor
ofterrorismwithamassivefinancialwindfall,whichIranwillusetofurther
threatenourinterestsandkeyallies,especiallyIsrael.
Icallonallcongressionalleadersandpresidentialcandidates,including
SecretaryClinton,torepudiatethisagreement.IransSupremeLeader
shouldknowthatafutureAmericanpresidentwillnotbeboundbythis
diplomaticretreat.Undoingthedamagecausedbythisdealwontbe
easy.ButwhentheUnitedStatesleads,andhasapresidentwhoisnt
eagertoembraceIran,theworldwillfollow.Inordertoensurethesafety
ofAmericaandourallies,thenextpresidentmustrestorebipartisanand
internationaloppositiontoIransnuclearprogramwhilestandingwithour
alliestorollbackIransdestructiveinfluenceacrosstheMiddleEast.

TheObamaAdministrationsagreementwithIranisvery
dangerous.Irandevelopinganuclearweapon,eitherthroughuraniumor
nuclearfuel,anddefyingtheworldisstillaveryrealpossibility.The
inspectionswillnotbefollowed,andIranwillnolongerhaveany
sanctions.Irangetseverythingandlosesnothing.
EverypromisetheObamaAdministrationmadeinthebeginningof
negotiations,includingthevow(madeatthebeginningofthe
negotiations)togetourgreatAmericanprisonersreturnedtotheU.S.
hasbeenbroken.Thisisabaddealthatsetsadangerousprecedent.
ThisdealsetsoffanucleararmsraceintheMiddleEast,whichisthe
mostunstableregionintheworld.Itisahorribleandperhaps
catastrophiceventforIsrael.
Furthermore,weshouldhavekeptthebillionsofdollarswehaveagreed
topaythem.Anygreatdealmakerwouldknowthisisaperfectexampleof
tappingalongandbecausetheyhavebeenuncheckedforsolong
throughoutthisextremelylengthyprocess,Iguaranteetheyaremuch
closertoproducinganuclearweaponthantheywereatthestartof
negotiations.
Thefactis,theUShasincompetentleadersandevenmoreincompetent
negotiators.WemustdobetterforAmericaandtheworld.Wehaveto
MakeAmericaGreatAgain.
