In the classroom, children are grouped according to their mental age and the language they speak.
They are taught to be independent individuals in practical everyday activities. Importance is
given to the development of self expression. Physical training, music, singing, dancing,
painting, hand work and gardening are part of the curriculum. General knowledge is taught as is
appropriate for each child. The children frequently enjoy picnics or outings of educative value.
There are regular parent/ teacher/doctor meetings. The school is maintained with the help from
the generous contributions from the public.
Sai Prema is mainstreaming students to normal schools, preparing students for Open Base
Education systems and training teenagers and adults in different vocational activities to give them
positive direction in life Integrated.
2. Vocational Training:
Our ultimate objective is to make an individual ready for a vocation, to make him/her
independent in life by giving him a positive direction. Guide him/her to increase and utilize
abilities and potentials and enjoy full benefits of life.
In our pre-vocational section we train students of all ages, which include adults too. Painting
decorative earthen pots, making paper bags, envelopes, greeting cards, candles, stitching are only
some to mention. Expansion of pre-vocational section is one of the prime future plans of Ahead
now. We need volunteers and funds for it! We are getting good response and support from the
parents, well- wishers and donors.

PROJECT PROPOSAL
FOR
TO SETUP SANITARY NAPKIN UNIT
TO
NATIONAL SMALL INDUSTRIES CORPORATION LTD
VIJAYAWADA
BY
ANKITHA CHARITABLE TRUST (ACT)
Vijayawada
The main skills identified and utilized at the Vocational training unit are Garland making,
Greeting cards, carving, enamel painting, pot decoration etc. There are 24 children working in
the unit. A separate building annex is set apart for this purpose. To support the sale promotion of
the products, an exhibition cum sale is being organized every year since the last two years. The
age group of the mentally challenged in the vocational unit is between 18 and 35 and the small
earning from this unit is being distributed to these children which is a great motivation and
acknowledgement of their skills.
Justification:
In our society, the mentally challenged citizens find it extremely difficult to be able to make a
living and live a life of dignity. Where there are no government jobs for mentally challenged
persons, minimal opportunities in private sectors. However, prejudices towards them have
caused them to be treated as surplus citizens incapable of being contributing and productive
members of society.
Keeping in this view Sai Prema want to train its students in self employed based and We
intended to provided hands on Experience to our Students.
It converts the elaborate process of manufacturing sanitary napkins into a Gandhian operation. The tools used in this model
are as much "machines" as the charkha, the pestle or the grindstone. In other words, this model harnesses technology for the
benefit of the masses.
It operates on simple tasks that can be mastered within 1 day, and does not require exceptional skills. So anybody can use
It addresses the issue of sanitary napkins being unaffordable and/or unavailable to around 97% of Indian women this
scenario is same around all under developed countries these women therefore resort to unhygienic alternatives and
occasionally face embarrassing situations in public.
Several states of India, We are doing a project on sanitary napkin manufacture at newly invented machine. Every unit of this
invention would lead to employment of 6-10 rural women and low cost napkins supplied by these units can be used by the rural
women to improve their hygiene level.
