Rotaract District 7030
July 1st 2015
The theme therefore challenges us to not only assess the benefits that our Rotaract experience has
given to us but also to think of the wider picture and ponder the following questions:
What we hope to achieve therefore from our Rotaract experience is the corresponding response
which ends our theme, the energetic and resounding response of Y.E.S.! This Y.E.S.! which is an
acronym for youth, excellence and service-driven describes exactly what is needed on the Rotaract
end to become Rota-ready.
Our youthfulness is one of our most potent assets and must be celebrated through
everything that we do.
The excellence that we strive for in our academics and career complement the projects that
we are able to produce and their success.
The way in which we remain driven to attend to the needs of the community through our
unrelenting dedication, innovation and selflessness help shape our image as a service
organization.
Let us spend this year celebrating our unique strengths and working towards a Rota-ready state that
first begins with a Y.E.S!

CLUB STORIES
The weekend retreat for The Rotaract Club of Barbados West was held at Guardian General Life,
Collymore Rock, St Michael from June 20th 21st 2015. Members of sponsor club Rotary Barbados
West, Rotarian John Hadchity, Rotarian Nicholas Hartmann and newest female Rotarian Rennette
Dimmontt shared practical knowledge about Rotary and its various roles and ways in which the club
can be more efficient and effective with executing its plans.
Apostle Elector Pearson presented on Team Building through practical play sessions, where each
member was able to take away important lessons about being part of a dynamic team.
As a new component of this annual retreat, our club executed its first official handing over ceremony
since our charter in March 2014. Rotarian Horace Cobham, President of Rotary Barbados West gave
the official speech encouraging members present to engage our communities more, so we can build
a vibrant and sustained club.
Immediate Past President Shalisha Samuel graciously handed over the reign to President Kavan
Jackman, who both inspired members present to go above and beyond the call of duty to leave our
marks on the world.
To raise a minimum of 200,000GYD in the fourth quarter of the Rotaract year as a means of
financing upcoming projects of the Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central 2014/2015.
The club raised a total of $230,000GYD ($1150USD) for service projects exceeding our target
by 15%.
A total of 30 Artists were featured, which provided them with free exposure and many were
able to market and sell pieces on the spot.
With the support of sponsors the event which cost patrons $3,000 offered free wine and Hors
doeuvres while they perused the art pieces and enjoyed the performances. The Wine and Art
event was described as fun and innovative by patrons, surpassed our goals and is now likely to
become the Signature event of The Rotaract club of Georgetown Central.
The members of the Rotaract Club of Grenada eagerly look forward to a challenging yet memorable
and fun filled new year, as we work to accomplish our goals and objectives under the theme
Building People, Changing Lives.
The Rotaract Club of Grenada Hosts its First Meeting for the New Year
The Rotaract Club of Grenada today held its first meeting for the Rotaract Year 2015-2016 on July 8,
2015, focusing on one of our core values "Team Spirit".
Mr. Norman Gilbert, Assistant Youth Ambassador of the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Ecclesiastic Affairs
was invited to present on Team Building and Group Dynamics.
A very interactive session was held where different personality traits were identified focusing on the
importance of each in order to have a functioning group. This was followed by competitive team
building exercises after which the meeting ended with a toast after everyone outlined what theyd
like to see during the upcoming year.
New board, new objectives and more determination for this New Year! We all said Y.E.S. for Youth
and Excellence in Service. Some wonderful projects are in the starting blocks, we already started
work on them and will give the best of ourselves to make them happen.
On behalf of President Wendy, we all wish you an excellent Rotaract Year and look forward to see you
acting in service as great young professionals.

On December 20 2014, the RSCA continued along their initiative, this time distributing food hampers
to needy families in the St. Augustine community bringing them happiness during the Christmas
season. An estimated cost for this project was five thousand dollars. There would never have been
such a positive outcome were it not for members generous support.
The RCSA has always been a supporter of the Amica Girls Home. On December 12 2014, they held
their annual Christmas party for the girls. In addition, on March 28 2015, they treated the girls to a
movie day.
After a whole week end of meetings with the District team which shows us a strong support, we said
YES! WE ARE ROTA-READY!

This project was funded by the West Indian Association of Bermuda with the main goal of assisting
persons who were severely affected by the 2013 Christmas Eve Trough.
Rotaract Club of Saint Lucia officially executed the handing over of the home to the victim and her
daughter affected by the Christmas Trough, along with Hampers to other persons of the Canaries
community on Saturday June 13th 2015. All thanks to the West Indian Association of Bermuda our
public sponsors, our sponsoring Rotary Club of St. Lucia and community members.
The Past President gave her overview of the year then presented the awards for Rotaractor of the Year
to Rot. Annice JnPanel, Most Developed Rotaractor to Rot. Yanic Thomas and Committee of the Year to
the International Service Committee headed by Dir. Kevin JnBaptiste. Heartiest and well deserved
congratulations to all.
Our guest speaker Kayani Descartes graced us with powerful words that set the tone for the incoming
president Rot. Brittney Gonzague to move us toward her vision with a very motivational speech. To
the dismay of our pockets, the dinner ended with a most profitable SAA session conducted by four (!)
mystery sergeants.
We all had a lovely evening at the Charter Dinner; so many thanks to the organizers and to everyone
who came along in support of the event.
Breakfast Sale
The Rotaract Club of St. Lucia South held a breakfast sale on Saturday, the 20th of June, 2015 at the
Laborie Market. Breakfast items included delicious fried bakes, salad and steaming hot cocoa tea.
The endeavor was a success as folk from the community were more than merry to support, helping to
raise money to be used for our club service activities.
Our gratitude goes out to all the members who assisted with the success of this project and to the
community for their continuous patronage.
Paint Job
Our Rotaractors did it again! On the 20th of June 2015, the Rotaract Club of St. Lucia South, with
assistance from members of the Rotaract Club of St. Lucia painted some educational games on the
floors of the Laborie Boys Primary School. The games included Tic-Tac-Toe, Snakes and Ladders,
Twister, Hopscotch, Fun Clock and a Hand Tennis area.
This project was executed as part of our Charter Week activities and also coincides with an
undertaking similar to that of our twin club, Rotaract Club of Central Port of Spain.
Amidst all the hard work and paint-smeared clothing, we couldnt help but have ourselves a blast.
Our appreciation goes out to all those who showed up. Many hands do make light work!
In keeping with the Rotary theme Be a Gift to the World and Rotaract District 7030s theme Are you
rota-readyYES the Rotaract Club of Tobagos theme for the year 2015/2016 is Discovering Gifts
Through Service. This theme challenges our members to discover and nurture their potential and
utilise their talents and expertise to enhance the lives of the members of the club and the community
through our avenues of service.
At our annual Handing Over Ceremony, outgoing President Stephan Sandy after two terms of service
passed on the torch to the incoming President Jasiyah Ibrahiim with her new board of vibrant
directors. The weekend ended with great memories, laughter and renewed vigour for the New
Year.
