Selected to group of 20 educators from
across the country to participate in
workshop examining and reshaping the
ways that Africa is taught in World
History. While there I worked with other
participants to develop lessons involving
technology to create access to primary
sources and other resources on Africa.
From this I learning this I learned
various ways that technology can be
used to bridge gaps in terms of distance,
but also access.

dispositions.)
In order to coach teachers, a technology
coach needs to be able to relate to their
content. In some cases this may mean
having a surface understanding of the
content, but in other cases this means
delve deep into the content. This
workshop granted me the opportunity to
delve deeper into African studies and
begin familiarizing myself with the
content in order to learn how to better
pair learning objectives with activities
involving digital tools.

3. Describe how this field experience

impacted school improvement, faculty
development or student learning at
your school. How can the impact be
assessed? The information I learned in
this workshop became the basis of an
African Studies course that I know teach
at my school. The course teaches
students about another part of the world
and expands their global understanding.
