As many non hindi readers are looking for this I am compiling Havan Procedures in English. Any
improvement is welcome.
There are three parts in Yagya Bidhan
a. Material and other requirements
b. Prelude to Main Havan before lighting the yagya fire (including Nyas and Guru Pujan)
c. Primary Functions
I will begin with the primary function of the Yagya. Pls complete the two functions before starting
the following.
Lighting up the Yagya
Make sure that plenty of Samidha(logs) are available to amount required for the specific Havan
and place the logs in the pier and light the pier with cottons dipped in oil or ghee as instructed in
the earlier chapters. Once the yagya pier got fire started..... .
Separate four pieces of small twigs/ splinters dip in ghee.
Hold on to one with between your thumb and mid finger and chant...... and place the splinter into
fire at Swaha....... .

Hold on to another splinter dipped in ghee and repeat the above

Now the pier should be well lit before you start only Ghee Aahuti. At Swaha drop ghee droplet to
the fire with Sura (piece wooden handle)

The mandatory Sarva Dev Aahuti of each session of Havan should be of Ghee and mixture of
grains (Sesam black- Barley and or other ingrideints like clove/black peper/brahma dandi etc) - as
specified. Must make sure that all the offering get into the fire directly. The mixture shall be picked
up using right hand thumb/mid finger and third finger only.
