YOUTH TRAINING

TECHNIQUE

Monday morning

1st training session

Individual training with the ball (20 min)

Setup and sequence


Using cones, mark out a square field 20x20y.
Size depends on number of players, too big is better than too small. All players are inside the
square, each one has a ball.
Players do the following exercises, one at a time.
- dribbling right/left
- turning with ball
- tricks
- controlling feet, breast, head, knees when the ball comes down.
- juggle with the ball

Setup and sequence


Mark out a square field 14x22m.
Five attackers stand between the cones and two more defenders are in the middle and play 5v2
in the square.
- If the ball goes out or is touched by a defender players switch roles.

Variation
-If attackers do 15 times passing, defenders remain double time in the middle.
- Make more difficult. Attackers have only two touches.

Setup and sequence


Position three players as shown i two cones spased 20 m. apart.
Place one cone in the middle.
- 1./5. running
- 2./6. passing short
- 3./7. turning
- 4./8. passing long
After 8 times (4 right / 4 left) each player rotates to the next position.

Match 1v1 with 2 goalkeepers (15 min)

Setup and sequence


Teams play 1v1 on a 32x30 yard field and two goals with goalkeepers.
Divide players into two teams.
The pairs stands the line up beside the goal.
Attacker start asking the ball and defender react him.
Goalkeeper plays a short pass to the attacker, who plays 1v1 to finish on the goal.
The defender tries to win the ball and counterattack on the goal.
After 6/7 minuters attackers and defenders swich roles and change the goalkeepers.

Match 2v2 with 2 goalkeepers (15 min)

Setup and sequence


Basic sequence is the same as in previus activity, except now the passer at the line up plays a
ground pass to the goalkeeper, who plays ground pass to other attacker.
Pairs plays 2v2.
Attackers try to finish on the goal and defenders to win the ball and counterattack to other goal.
After 6/7 minutes attackers and defenders switch roles and change the goalkeepers.

Match 4v4 with 2 goalkeepers (20 min)

Setup and sequence


Mark out a 30 x 20 m field with a goal each endline.
Divide players into three teams of four.
Each team starts out with four players on field and one goalkeeper.
Teams play 4 v 4 for 3 minutes (one team rest).
Six matches total ( 4 maches a team).
- When score a team hold the ball by the goalkeeper.
- When the ball is out start with the goalkeeper.

Passing system to the third player and scoring (30 min)

Setup and sequence


Set up two goals with goalkeepers the one next to another.
Divide players into two teams. Place three cones in a triagle in front of each goal.
-Right side
Player A plays a wall pass with B, who plays a wall pass with C and finishes with a shoot on goal.
-Left side
Player A plays pass to B who receive, turn, plays wall pass with C and finishes with a shoot.
Each player advances to the next position.
After 15 minutes each team rotates to the other field.

Coach tip
Players need their left leg over the left side and their right leg over the right side.

Position game 6v3 (25 min)

Setup and sequence


Make 3 teams of 3 (2 teams + 1 team).
Team A (six players) must hold ball position against Team B (3 players) on a 14x22 metres field.
When B defending 5 times getting the ball, switch roles.

Variation
- If A complete 10 passes = 1 point.
- if A complete 7 passes in a row, B's players do five pushups.
- Count how many passes A completes within 2 minutes. If B's players win the ball, it goes back to
A.

Rotate players at least every two minutes.

Setup and sequence


Field is a half, with a goal on each endline.
Divide players into two teams of six or seven plus goalkeepers.
6 v 6 game
Each team plays a 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 formation.
7 v 7 game
Make the field 10m longer.
Each team plays a 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 1 formation.

Passing system in the triangle (10 min)

Setup and sequence


Set up three starting cones around a goal with goalkeeper as shown.
Distance of the starting cones, 10m each.
Position one player at each cone.
Player A passes to B, who takes the ball diagonally and passes into C's path. C runs out to receive,
dribbles and shoots.
Each player rotates to the next station.

Variation
Same as previous exercise except now C's player position where he is asking the ball. Player C
runs back to receive the ball, dribbles and shoots.
