FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The significant number of students involved in Performing Arts is commendable. We
have so many talented girls participating in a wide variety of groups ranging from
Shakespeare drama, Marist Stella Choir, Stage Challenge, Marybelles Choir, dance
and musical groups. There will be an opportunity to see these at a Performing Arts
Showcase - Come out to Play on Monday, June 22nd at 6:30pm, $5.00 entry, children
under 5 free. Tickets will be sold at school reception from Wednesday, June 10th.
The venue is the school gymnasium for this Performing Arts Showcase with a theme
of childhood. The evening features the Marist College Stage Challenge entry for 2015
as well as many other groups. Make sure you get a seat for this Marist celebration of
childhood through dance, drama and music.

POMPALLIER SHIELD
Pompallier Shield is an interschool speech and scripture competitions between all the
Catholic high schools in the Auckland diocese. The categories are Maori scripture, junior
scripture, senior scripture, junior speech and senior oratory.
This year Marist college had 5 students, who represented our school in each category with
true Marist spirit. It was a great opportunity for the participants to not only make friends, but to
reflect and listen to the Gospel and see the perspective of other young people.
Junior speech participant Yohanna D'Costa and senior oratory participant Leah Pereira both
placed second in their categories and Maori scripture, junior scripture and senior scripture
participants Amanda Dalgado, Madyson Ierome Fatu and Allebina Pailate are also to be
commended on their participation in this competition. Congratulations overall winner Santa
Maria College.
