SECTION D1
SITE VISIT MEETING NOTES
FACILITY:

ETIM PRODUCTION FACILITY

OPERATION PERSONNEL:

E.C, ORODO
X.A. THOMPSON
K. ANIMASHAUN
The process personnel requested information from MPN personnel as per operations
listed below;
Production Separator
The level control on the production separator is currently a concern. The operations
personnel revealed that the separator has not been de-sand for some time. Recently
a de-sanding request has been raised by the Etim operation team. The sight
glasses are blocked. The bridle piping is badly corroded and any attempt to clean the
sight-glass in order to restore it to function may lead to breaking the piping.
Test Separator
This equipment is operated intermittently as required. Operational issues are not
documented, however, the sight-glass is not functional and piping is badly corroded.
Any attempt to clean it may lead to damaging the sight-glasses.
Condensate Pumps
The pumps are aged and operators confirm that a replacement request have been
placed to change both pumps. The gear of one of the pumps is bad and no spares in
the store to restore it back to service. Very urgent attention is required.
Instrument Air System
One of the instrument air compressors has just been replaced and the capacity is
358 SCFM. The second old compressor with operating capacity of 225 SCFM is bad
and there is need for replacement. The instrument air system after-cooler attached to
this compressor is out of service. Also, the instrument air dryers are out of service
and is currently by-passed. There is need to urgently re-instate it to functional.
However no major upset is reported since by-passing the instrument air dryer and
because of this the supply is adequate.
The current instrument air supply scheme shows fuel gas as back-up supply to the
instrument gas system. But the operators confirm that fuel gas was old design. Since
the instrument air was installed, fuel gas has not been used as back-up.
There are no documented utility air users on ETIM production platform. However
utility air station is available.
Gas To Edop Platform
There is currently no flow of gas from Etim platform to Edop platform. This is due to
rupture of the gas line. For the past three years, gas has not been sent to Edop
platform. Gas supply to Edop platform may resume when the pipeline is repaired.
Diesel System Supply

Diesel supply to crane, emergency generator and fire water pumps is manual. The
supply scheme installed over thirty years ago is not functional.
Fire Water System
The fire water system is currently not pressurized. However, the pumps are
functional and activated on fire detection. The entire fire water piping has greatly
deteriorated. Fire water divert valves must be closed manually to concentrate supply
to the required locations.
Fuel Gas System
This is functional without pre-heater and super heater in place. There is also a backup line to instrument air. Since instrument air system was installed, gas has not been
in used as back-up and there is no plan for this, hence there should be proper
isolation.
Meter Prover
The existing Meter prover is out of service. The current flow Meters can not be
proved. There is need to overhaul the prover.
MOL Pumps
All the three pumps are functional. However, the isolation valves of one pump is
leaking, hence pump can not be taken out for maintenance.
Generators
Three gas engines exist at Etim production platform. One of these is out of service,
the second generators cylinders are said to be in bad condition and the remaining
one is not at peak performance. Anytime the generator with the bad cylinder is
running, it shuts-in whenever a little surge is encountered. The third generator is
functioning well and reliable. With the current improved production at Etim platform
there is only one generator that can be relied upon to support production.
Potable Water System
Potable water is supplied via boat. Current capacity can last six people for a week.
Sump Tank
Biocide is occasionally injected to the sump tank. The flow of biocide is by gravity
from the main deck. One of the sump pumps is out of service and the other one is
not reliable. There is a need to change both pumps.
Halon System
Already the switch gear room has been changed to carbon dioxide based, while
generator room is not changed and out of service.
Salt Water System
Salt water pump is not functional. This was previously used to pressurized fire water
system and supply living quarters toilet WC.
Liquid Knock Out Drum
No operational issues as regards flow and control.

Diesel Storage
Supply is by boat and its flows by gravity to the various users.

SECTION D1
SITE VISIT MEETING NOTES
FACILITY:

INIM PRODUCTION FACILITY

OPERATION PERSONNEL:

Engnr. Ashiru

The process personnel requested information from MPN personnel as per operations
listed below.
Production Separators:
The operations personnel noted that the separators were de-sanded about 2-3 years
ago. Only the Enang production separator is currently in use. The separator is
operational with little or no carry over.
Generally the bridle piping is badly corroded and the sight glasses are not
functioning well. With the extent of corrosion in the bridles, any attempt to clean the
sight glasses may lead to damaging them. There are no major operational issues in
terms of level control of the production separator.
Test Separators:
The test separator is usually operated intermittently, however the bridles are badly
corroded and need to be restored to their original functionality. Recently the Inim A
test line was changed after the line ruptured.
Condensate Pumps:
The condensate pumps are old and obsolete without serviceable parts. One of the
pumps is out of service with the belt and parts entirely bad. The second may run with
difficulty and has leaking piping. A request to change the condensate pumps has
been out for more than three years.
Instrument Gas System:
There is no instrument air system at Inim; instrument gas is used for all
instrumentation activities at Inim. There is need to provide instrument air system for
the facility.
Utility Gas Users:
The utility gas user currently identified at Inim is the Inim sump tank. Adequate utility
gas stations are provided on the platform.
Fire Water System:
The Fire water pumps are all weak and need replacement. One of the diesels driven
fire water pump is currently tagged as out of operation and needs urgent attention to
reinstate it. The fire water system is not pressurized and the piping has corroded
heavily. The electric driven pump is available for use.
Fuel Gas System/Generators:
There are no operational issues with the fuel gas system. The gas engine driven
generators are old and not very reliable. With the current drilling activities around
Enang field, an increase in the electrical load is expected at Inim platform. The

current generators are de-rated to give a combine out put of about 400kw and may
not handle the expected increase in electrical load. The operation personnel prefer
gas turbine generators (3 x 50 %).
MOL Pumps:
One production train (Enang Separator) is currently in use. All Enang train pumps
are in place, however two pumps from the Inim train have been taken out for service.
Pumps suction lines are badly corroded and may need replacement.
Potable Water:
Potable water is supplied by boat to the platform. The frequency of supply depends
on usage.
Sump Tank
Biocide is occasionally injected to the sump tank to enable the oil to flow freely as it
is being pumped out. Biocide flow is by gravity from the main deck. There is need to
change the electrically driven pump.
Salt Water System:
The Pump is out of service. It was previously used to pressurized the fire water
system and provide water to the living quarters WC system.
Liquid Knock Out Drum:
The operators have no idea as regard various internals installed. Currently the Inim
flare is out of service with produced gas sent to Edop platform for flaring. The current
export gas does not flow through the liquid K.O drum. However any time gas is sent
to Asabo, the gas flow through the liquid K.O drum.
Diesel Storage:
Diesel is supplied by boat to the facility. Frequency of supply depends on the extent
of usage.
General Commment:
Instrumentation is obsolete and should be up graded. Major process lines have been
de-rated, and urgently need to be revamped so that lines may be restored to their
original integrity and pressure rating.

SITE VISIT MEETING NOTES
FACILITY:

UTUE PRODUCTION FACILITY

OPERATION PERSONNEL:

James Esentia
James Umoreh
Chinedu Aboaja
George Itok

The process personnel requested information from MPN personnel regarding the
facility operation integrity.
Gas to Ubit PP
There is currently no flow of gas from Utue platform to Ubit platform. The last time
gas was sent from Utue platform to Ubit platform was on 06-06-1999.
Crane
The existing crane doesnt have a pedestal. Diesel supply to the crane is done via
flexible hose connection from a pipe on the diesel system to the crane day tank
using an electrically driven pump.
Hydraulic oil supply to the crane is via a flexible hose connection from the hydraulic
drum to the crane day tank using an air driven pump.
Potable Water Supply
Potable water is supply by boat to the platform on a weekly basis. The potable water
is operational. 10 tonnes of water is normally received each week.
Fuel Gas System
The existing fuel gas system is operational and does not require pre-heating or
superheating to satisfy the engine specification requirement.
Production Separator
A general maintenance and shutdown of separator was done in 2004 and sand was
removed from the separator. After that, the separator level control stopped giving
problems.
Liquid Knock Out Drum
During the general maintenance and shutdown the demister in the vessel was
discovered to have collapsed and it was removed. Presently the vessel has no
demister.
Instrument Air
The existing instrument air system supplied air at a pressure of 60 psig. Existing
instrument air supply is not adequate. Instrument air system capacity could not be
obtained.
MOL Pumps

The pumps are adequate for current production. One of the pumps was out of
service.
Condensate Pumps
Recently the two condensate pumps have been changed with the same rating as the
previous pumps. The pumps are pneumatic and are manually operated, however
pressure switches are installed. When ever a pump is put into operation, it tends to
overload the instrument air system. Usually an operator stands on location for the
period of usage.
Trash (Waste) Compactor
The Trash Compactor is air driven and for the duration of the site visit it was not in
used; hence its impact on the air supply system could not be ascertained.
Crane Oil Hydraulic Supply Pumps.
The Crane hydraulic oil pumps are air driven, but the consumption is low: hence they
do not overload the instrument air supply when in operation.
Fire Water System
Generally, fire water piping and fitting are badly corroded. The Jockey pump is not
operational. (Formally the salt water pump was used as the jockey pump). There are
two existing fire water pumps: one, diesel driven and one, electrically driven.
Chemical Injection
Currently there is no chemical injection facility on Utue production platform. However,
biocide is injected periodically to the sump tank. This is done using a manual kit.
Salt Water System
This system is out of service. Previously it was used to provide water to the living
quarters toilet WC system and to keep fire water main ring pressurized (as the fire
water jockey pump).
Meter Prover Loop
The team could not identify any loop used as meter prover.
Inergen System
Currently the switchgear room inergen system has been changed from Halon based
system to carbon dioxide based. The generator room inergen system was still based
on Halon system and is out of service.
Diesel Supply System
Diesel is supply by boat to the facility. The existing diesel storage facility is adequate.
Frequency of supply is dependent on usage.
