Part A. already completed.

I have attached what I completed so far for my Student GPA Database, if you
feel there are any corrections needed please do so.

B.
Lets correct our initial data model that you developed in part 1. Review this weeks material,
and revise (if necessary) the structure of your database so that it is in 3rd Normal Form.
Determine and document the relationships between the tables. I want your database to have at
least three tables.
We are not using Access yet!!! We wont be defining your database in Access until Part 3 of the
project.
Submit the following in the drop box below:
1. DBDL for your database (i.e. a list of each table showing the table name and the fields
with the primary key underlined). You dont need to document alternate or secondary
keys. Do document foreign keys.
2. An Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) for your database showing all tables and the
cardinality.
C.

Part 3 finally its time to begin implementing our database (now that our design is perfect)!
Use Access to define all tables, fields, properties, indexes and relationships. Include appropriate
validation rules, required properties, defaults, input masks, formats etc. for EVERY field. Make
sure you enforce referential integrity on ALL relationships.
D.
Part 4. Time to load some data into your database! Youll do this by creating custom forms for
each of your tables (or create a form with a subform). Do NOT just use the Form Tool or Wizard
and stop there for your tables.jazz up those forms! Add logos, buttons, clipart, etc. to make the
forms visually appealing.
Load your tables with data (at least 10 rows per table unless its a lookup or reference table).
E.
Part 5: Time to query that database of yours! Create at least five queries (use at least
three of your tables). Be creative! Utilize criteria, joins, calculated fields, functions, sorts
etc. Give an appropriate title to each query.
Part 6: Time to develop some reports from that database of yours! Create three to five
reports (use at least three of your tables). Be creative! Utilize group/summary reports,
clipart, calculated fields, etc. Give an appropriate title to each report.
F.
Part 7. Time to show off that database of yours! Create a presentation/demonstration of your
database project for your classmates using PowerPoint. Limit your presentation to no more than

10-15 slides. Give a little background about your database (what it will be used for etc.) and
show whatever you like best about it! It may be that form you spent so much time on, the glitzy
report, the slick SQL query, or even the complicated relationships that you fought with!
