The First verse:

Today I have completed for you your
religion, nalized my favor upon you
and am pleased for you with Islam as a
religion Al Maaidah 3
EXPLANATION:
What is meant by completing the religion?
1.
The Performance of the Hajj

FADHL Al ISLAM
By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

2. Others have said: It means the completion

of religious laws. -So all matters of belief and law
were nalized by the revelation of this verse. Whatever
could be said to have come after this verse is seen to be
further details of broader legislation before it.
Allah claried in this verse that He:
Completed the religion for us,
Finalized His favor upon us and
Is pleased for us with Islam as a religion.
Firstly: The Religion is Complete. Nothing can be
addedor subtracted. This is from its superiority
whereas other religions/ways of life are incomplete.
Rather people look for things they need but cannot nd
in their religions.
FADHL Al ISLAM
By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

Many nations before us entered into heresies and certain

behaviors while ignorant and sometimes while knowing
better. However Islam has fundamentals that
demonstrate its completeness and its clarity.
This clarity and knowledge provides Muslims with
security from straying from the truth like previous
nations.
The Finalization of Allahs Blessing: Religious and Worldly
Blessing
Its religious blessing has already been mentioned. As
for its worldly blessing than it causes a person to live
a good life. This includes: inner peace, outer safety,
economic prosperity, self-contentment etc. that are
requisite of having a good life. A person can never be
truly happy in this world without being pleased and
comfortable with Allah.
FADHL Al ISLAM
By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

10

Thirdly: I am pleased for you with Islam as a Religion.

Meaning he is pleased with whoever holds fast to this
Islam, is steadfast and enters into it.

Since Allah is pleased with them, they will be the

recipients of His special guidance and nearness.

Were you to look at other nations youll see that Allah

hasn't favored them as he has this nation. Therefore it

is compulsory for the Allahs bounty to be evident upon
the believer and that he doesnt behave as though he has
done Allah a favor.

From the benefits of this verse:

1.The completion fo the Shariah which is two
categories: Aqeedah and Shariah
FADHL Al ISLAM

11

The means of understanding and the ultimate meaning have

already both been established. The affirmation of the objective
knowledge being complete is affirmation of the means to that end
being perfectly established. So the evidences are all provided
without needing to look elsewhere.

This proves the falsehood of the philosophers and rhetoricians who

attempt to complete the religion through their philosophy.

Some went so far as to say: The way of the Salaf is safest while the
way of the latter day philosophers is most knowledgable and wise.
Meaning- more complete! So whatever means they invent to affirm
what is already perfect are evidently false.

SECOND BENEFIT: In His saying: I am pleased FOR YOU with Islam

as a religion is a proof of a specific meaning of Islam being
intending, otherwise Islam is the religion of all Prophets. So this is a
particular Islam that a person needs to enter into in order to be
muslim, which is what was revealed after the sending of the Prophet

FADHL Al ISLAM
By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

12

The meaning of religion is what

people judge by and make their
continuous habit. It is what is
adhered to. When a person believes
and adheres to something, acting
upon it and traversing it, that is called
their Deen linguistically. Even
systems of law are linguistically called
Deen because it is the general law
followed in a scenario.

FADHL Al ISLAM
By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

13

If it opposes the Shariah, it is correct to

say that this is the religion of such and
such

Whoever adheres to anything of beliefs,

law, judgment, behavior, or dawah and
methodology in a manner opposing the
Salaf, this verse shows that we are able to
say about it: Allah isnt pleased with it as
a matter of religion.

CHAPTER ONE- SECOND EVIDENCE:Yunus: 104

The suitability and significance of using this verse

evidence is that the Imam Al Muslih is clarifying the
benefit/bounty ( )of Islam whose proofs are clear for its
followers so that they can be free from the clutches of
harmful desires and the clutches of doubts -which is even
worse.

When confronted with confusion, the muslim doesnt

hesitate because the religion provides him with inner
vision

From the bounty of Islam is that when the people of Shirk,

innovation or misguidance cast and present doubts at the
believer, it doesnt affect him, so long as he is learning
and practicing his religion.

He responds as the Messenger did:

FADHL Al ISLAM
By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

15

Meaning: if you doubt the religion of Islam and

Monotheism I have come with: Then I dont
worship what you worship besides Allah but
rather I worship Allah who will cause you (one
day) to die. He proclaimed the statement of
monotheism which is negation and affirmation.

If you doubt my religion which is clear and

undoubtable, you have more right to doubt
your own. For indeed I worship Allah alone,
who controls your death as well as your
benefit and harm, -

I worship Allah, who will take your souls when

your lifespans are finished. I do not turn to
your weak objects of worship- statues and
idols- that control no benefit or harm for their
own selves.
FADHL Al ISLAM
By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

16

So they are more rightful to be in doubt about their beliefs.

This is from Allahs favor, that a person understands Islam correctly.

According to the strength and firmness of his practice of Islam, believing in its information and obeying orders and prohibitions, -will
be Allahs favor upon him of being firm upon Islam and refuting
doubts.

You find some common people with less knowledge having stronger
belief and not having the doubts of more educated people. No
matter how much people oppose the truth, they are upon clarity.

As long as a person knows his religion with evidence, knows

aqeedah and tawheed, Allah protects him from doubts and he
doesn't deviate.

The more he knows about Islam, the stronger and more resolute he
will be no matter what he is presented with

17

Allah casts light into their hearts. He, of course, doesnt speak to them, but
He helps them and straightens them. This is a reality. Those with
knowledge of Pure Islam, Sunnah, Aqeedah and Shariah have stood firm
and benefitted, getting the reward for themselves and the community in
every time and place.

Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taimiyyah said: From what is known, is that the People
of Hadith share with every faction in what they possess of perfect qualities
and are specially characterized by qualities not found outside of them.
Whoever differs with them must resort to another method besides theirs,
such as: logic, analogy, opinion, rhetoric, investigation, inference, debate
and argument, inspiration, sensation, experience of elation and the likes of
such things. The people of hadith have the pinnacle of each of these things.
They are the most perfect of people in intellect, the most balanced in
analogy, the most correct in opinion, the straightest in rhetoric, the most
valid in investigation, the most guided in inference from evidence, the most
substantial in debate, the most complete in intuition, the most authentic in
inspiration, the sharpest in inner vision, the most correct in inner speech
and the best and greatest in experience and elation. This is the case of the
muslims in relation to all other religions. Whoever analyzes the affairs of the
world will find the muslims sharper and straighter in mind, having
accomplished in a short span of real knowledge and feats what others
accomplished over generations and centuries. Likewise is the comparison
of Ahlus Sunnah and Hadith. You find them enjoying the same things (more
than other factions).

By Al Imaam Al Mujaddid Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab

18

The scholars of Hadith possess knowledge of the religion

and strength in the presence of doubts in every time to a
degree that gives them virtue and superiority over all
others. They possess certainty that astonishes a person.
That is purely Allahs favor and by His Mercy. Those that
are with them in carrying and caring for the religion share
with them in that. Their awareness and knowledge
increases until they become firm in the presence of
doubts and confusion.

Therefore the verse proves that Islam has a tremendous

bounty/ benefit for its people. When a Muslim submits
entirely for Allah his honor strengthens and nothing can
turn him away from his religion. Rather Allah establishes
him firmly upon the resolute word of monotheism in this
life and the hereafter.
