Step 5: Know how to adjust your pattern Add definition at the waist If you've got a pattern where the measurements match in most places, but you'd like to take itn a litle bit at the waist, you can try simply going down a couple of hook sizes for a few inches around the waist portion of your gar- ment to add some definition and shaping without chang- ing your stitch count or pattern.
