ABSTRACT

The planning and design of a 6 storeyed tall building was designed for seismic
considerations of the chosen locality. The building is designed to be a hospital
building with all amenities.
Chennai was chosen as project location as it comes under zone III of seismic zones
convenient for a safer design for seismic design.
Planning was done following the norms as per NBC 2005 using AUTOCAD software.
The length of the building is 74.6m in lateral dimension and 54m in rectangular
dimension.
Analysis of the structure with 6 floors was done using STAADPRO software
following the codes of IS 875 for load calculations and IS 1893 for seismic design.
Designing of the required components are carried out manually following Limit State
Method of Design using IS 456 for beams, slabs and foundation and SP16 for design
of columns.
