TOO & ENOUGH

Too and Enough


Too has a negative meaning. It means very much, more than is necessary or
wanted.
too + adjective
Eg: He cant call her. Its too early.
We usually use the word too to say that someone is too small, big, slow, etc
to do something. We use:
too + adjective/adverb + to + verb
Eg: He is too old to go skiing

Enough has a positive meaning. It means as many/much is needed or wanted.


It goes before a noun but after an adjective or adverb.
enough + noun
Eg: There is enough food for dinner.
adjective/adverb + enough
Eg: He can run a marathon race. He is fit enough.
She can carry the shopping. Shes strong enough.
We often use the word enough to say that someone or something is small,
big, slow, etc enough to do something. We use:
adjective/adverb + enough + to + verb
Eg: its warm enough to go swimming today.
enough + noun + to + verb
Eg: He has enough petrol to drive to the garage
