Ch2, 8sc in 2nd ch from hook.
1st rd: 2sc in every sc = 16sc
2nd rd: 2sc in every 2nd sc = 24sc
3rd rd: 2sc in every 3rd sc = 32sc

5th rd: 2sc in every 5th sc = 48sc

Shell: in color A + B
The shell is worked in one continuous spiral and in two colors. It is also worked in a triangle shape.
A two-colored spiral is really easy: You just need to work half a round in one color, take out hook
and then work second half of round with contrast color.
With color A make a magic loop and work 3sc into it. Take out hook and work another 3sc into
loop with color B.

Break yarn color B. Work in color A half a round over color B part, so there is one complete round
in color A.

Now put shell over body part and crochet them together with slip stitches:

150sc = head (16sc) + 12sc-space + right frontfin (11sc) + 23sc-space + right leg (8sc) + 8sc-space
+ tail (10sc) + 8sc-space + left leg (8sc) + 23sc-space + left frontfin (11sc) + 12sc-space
Head: in color A
Remember to stuff head.
When you look at the seem between shell and body, you see that there are two parallel rows of sc.
Work over the upper row 16sc, turn, and work 16sc over the lower row:

Now you have a round of 32sc.

2nd rd: 2sc into 1st / 18th / 19th / 36th sc = 40sc

Eyes: in contrast color and with crochet hook 4mm

Ch2, 6sc into 2nd ch from hook
1st rd: 2sc in every sc = 12sc
2nd rd: 2sc in every 2nd sc = 18sc
3rd and 4th rd: sc
Break yarn.
Pupils: in black and with crochet hook 4mm
Ch2, 6sc in 2nd chain
1st rd: 2sc in each of next 3sc = 9sc
Break yarn and sew onto eye. Sew both eyes onto mitten and stuff with wadding.

Frontfins: in color A
Work over 11sc as described for head = 1round 22sc. (There is a 12sc-space between fins and
head.) Remember to stuff fins.
Right fin:
- 10sc, 2sc in each of the next 2sc, 8sc, 2x cr2tog
- 9sc, 2sc in each of the next 2sc, 8sc, 2x cr2tog
- continue for shortrows: 19sc, 1sl st, ch1, turn,

9sc, 2sc in each of next 2sc, 6sc, 1sl st, ch1, turn,

Work over 8sc as described for head = 1round 16sc. (There is a 23sc-space between frontfins and
legs and an 8sc-space between tail and legs.)
Remember to stuff legs.
Right leg:
1st rd: 2sc into 1st / 8th / 9th / 16th sc = 20sc
2nd to 8th rd: sc

9th rd: crtog 1st and 2nd sc / 3rd and 4th sc / 11th and 12th sc / 13th and 14th sc = 16sc
10th and 11th rd: sc
Sew hole flat together, break yarn.
Left leg:
Work as described for right leg.

Tail: in color A
Work over 10sc as described for head = 1round 20sc. (There is an 8sc-space between tail and
legs.)
Remember to stuff tail.
