goodsmean the substances,materialsand articlescovered by the IMDG Code.

Unless expresslyprovided otherwise, this part appliesto the carriageof dangerousgoods in packaged
' 'n1 in all ships to which the presentregulationsapply and in cargo shipsof lessthan 500 grosstonnage.

The carriage of dangerousgoods in packagedform is prohibited except in accordancewith thc
.'rovisionsof this chapter.

To supplementthe provisions of this part, each Contracting Government shall issue,or causeto be
..r,red,detailed instructions on emergencyresponseand medical first aid relevant to incidents involving
irngerous goods in packagedform, taking into account the guidelinesdevelopedby the Organization.r

ihe carriage of dangerousgoods in packagedform shall be in compliance with the relevant provisions of

In all documents relating to the carriageof dangerousgoods in packagedform by sea,the Proper

Manual
Cargo, cargounitsi and cargotransportunits shallbe loaded,stowed and securedthroughout the voyagein
accordancewith thc Cargo SecuringManual approvedby the Administration. The Cargo SecuringManual
shall bc drawn up to a standardat lcast equivalcnt to the guidelinesdevelopedby the Organization.l

Reportingof incidentsinuoluingdangerous

When an incident takes place involving the loss or likely loss overboard of dangerousgoods in
packagedcfonn into thc sea, the master, or other person having charge of thc ship, shall report thc
particularsof such an incident without delay and to thc fullest extent possibleto the nearestcoastalStarc.
The report shall be drawn up basedon gencralprinciples and guidelinesdcvelopedby the Organization.r

ln the event of thc ship referredto in paragraph1 being abandoned,or in thc cvent of a rcport frorn
such a ship being incomplete or unobtainable,the cornpany,as defined in regulation IX/1.2, shall, to thc
fullest extent possible,assulnethc obligationsplaced upon the masterby this rcgulation.
