As of today, Electronics and Communication engineers are expected to be working in all spheres
of modern industry. The goal of this course is to impart best technological education to the
students to match with the modern industry and also for the higher education. This course will
help the students to bridge the gap between theory and practical aspects of technology. It is a four
years (8 Terms) programme with a lateral entry facility for first class diploma holder students at
3rd Term. The course provides a very flexible study structure to the students to select important
elective subjects from multidisciplinary areas along with the main stream subjects of Electronics
and Communication Engineering. During their final year of course study, the students have to
compulsorily design and develop a project of their choice. However, the projects have to be of
high quality implementing innovative ideas and their applications in providing solutions to real
world problems. We encourage our students and facilitate them to take up live projects from
industries and corporate world. It gives them good experience of working on live projects on one
hand and on the other it gives an exposure and understanding of work culture of outside world
A Professional Training.
The course covers a wide range of technologies for the future growth in the fields like
Electronics Devices and Circuits, Transistors, Digital Electronics, Electromagnetic Field Theory,
Signals and Systems, Antenna Wave Propagation, Microelectronics, Microwave, Digital Signal
Processing, Microprocessor, etc. Emphasis is laid on some major thrust areas of the future like
Digital Communication, Image Processing, Very Large Scale Integration and Microcontrollers.

The mission of MIT is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and
other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the twenty-first century.
We seek to develop in each member of the MIT community the ability and passion to
workwisely, creatively, and effectively for the betterment of humankind.

Overview
The department of electrical engineering has been playing a vital role in producing scientists and
technologists of highest caliber ever since it was established in the year 1961. The department
runs three under graduate programmes and 9 post-graduate programmes to cater to the ever
challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of electrical engineering such as Integrated
electronics and circuits, Tele-communications, Computer technology, Control & Automation,
Power systems & Power electronics .
In addition to the strong undergraduate programs, the department has been playing a pioneering
role in producing world class postgraduates and research scholars. The infrastructure and lab
facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and
researchers to learn and innovate. The department has distinguished faculty, all holding Ph.D.
degrees from renowned institutes in India and abroad. There are two Fellows of IEEE in the
department and many other faculty members are Fellows of several national and international
scientific bodies. The faculty of the department has been constantly carrying out research on
many cutting edge technologies and regularly publishes in IEEE and other top international
journals. The department also undertakes many research projects sponsored by both the
government and the industry.
Faculty members of the department are recipients of many distinguished awards such as Shanti
Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, Prof. K. Sreenivasan Memorial Award, Prof. SVC Aiya Memorial
Award, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Research Award, Ram Lal Wadhwa Award, INAE Young Engineer
Award, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and many others. Many faculty members are
Editors of IEEE and other national and international journals. They are also Fellows of
organizations like IEEE, IETE, INAE, IASc, NASI and INSA. Some of the distingushed awards
are listed below.
Conduct curiosity-driven and problem-driven research that generates new knowledge and
produces discoveries that provide the foundations for future engineered systems
Deliver world-class, research-based education to students, and broad-based training to
leaders in academia, industry, and society
Drive technology transfer to Silicon Valley and beyond with deeply and broadly educated
people and transformative ideas that will improve our society and our world.
Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineering has long played a critical role in undergirding innovations that improve
the quality of life, support economic growth, and address societal problems. Its emergence as a
separate field of study in the late 19th century paralleled, and was responsive to, the large-scale
introduction of telegraphy and electrical lighting. Electrical engineering has continued to play a
pivotal role in power and energy distribution, communications, and computation, even as the
power-carrying channels have evolved from heavy metal cables to nanowires or optical fibers;
the networks of communications have evolved from wires to wireless to neurons; and the basic
electrical switches have evolved from vacuum tubes to transistors to carbon nanotubes. The
essential technologies that connect society: mobile phones, laptops, wireless communications,
downloaded videos, light-emitting diodes, electronic displays, smart power grids, and rapidly
evolving systems for monetary transactions are all evidence of the impact of innovation in
electrical engineering.
The undergraduate EE curriculum emphasizes both depth and breadth within the sub-disciplines
of electrical engineering. All students will specialize in electronic circuits and devices while
being provided the opportunity explore signals and systems theory, control systems, robotics,
optoelectronic devices, integrated circuits, energy systems, computer vision, electronic materials,
computer software and hardware, as well as mechanical, biological, and environmental systems.
Through this coursework, students also gain experience in the engineering design process, the
engineering activity that requires creative synthesis as well as analysis.
The Department's main objectives are to conduct internationally competitive research, and
deliver high quality teaching. The department conducts research across a wide range of topics,
and targets both fundamental advances and practical applications of science and technology. The
quality and impact of our research are demonstrated by our many highly cited publications, the
personal recognition of our researchers through awards and honours, and the commercial
adoption of our results and innovations.
We see educating the next generation of engineers as a key role, and our graduates and postgraduates are highly valued by industry and commerce around the world. Our undergraduate and
master's degrees are aligned to our research strengths, and we are proud of the depth of analytical
treatment and the specialised optional subjects we offer within our degree programmes.
