Comments/Suggestions to improve the BSBA-MA Curriculum:
Since graduating with a degree of BSBA-MA would not guarantee a student of becoming a
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) due to some elective subjects needed to be
complied with and PSU, I believe, is not one of those schools accredited for the CMA
program, I suggest that PSU, with the leadership of the College of Business and Accountancy
offer a more competitive course like BSBA-Internal Auditing. The competition today is tough.
A lot of people believe that having a professional license would be an edge over others and
that having a license would open many job opportunities. Being a BSBA-MA
student/graduate does not mean that we are not competitive enough. Our degree has
always been regarded as a fall-back course and many BSBA-MA graduates are taking up
auditing subjects to be able to take the CPA board exam. It is sad to know that there are a lot
of BSBA-MA students who are good yet due to some factors, they fail to maintain with the
BSA program. Given the chance, they will make good accountants but because money and
time cannot always be sacrificed, they end up graduating as BSBA-MA and cannot exhaust
more of their resources to enroll again in the BSA program. So I submit that we should give
those students who cannot maintain the grade of the BSA program a chance to prove
themselves in a career that would provide them with a PRC license. Honestly speaking,
people would trust more a licensed professional, people will hire first a licensed professional,
and people will prefer to promote a licensed professional. May the CBA faculty help the
students not only in strengthening their academic needs but also in increasing their selfesteem.
