General Purpose: To inform.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the types of breakfast, benefits of take a
breakfast and tips on how to prepare simple breakfast every day.
General Idea: To inform the audience that breakfast is important.

INTRODUCTION
I.

Did you take a breakfast today?

II.

Do you ever be in a situation where you are very hungry in early in the morning but
you do not have enough time to make a breakfast?

III.

Do you ever say these words "I do not have an appetite to eat breakfast" or "I will
take my breakfast along with my lunch this noon"?

IV.

Today, I would like to tell more about breakfast which is people should eat breakfast
every day.

V.

First, I will focus on types of breakfast that available, second are the benefits of take a
breakfast and third are how to prepare simple breakfast.

(TRANSITION: Lets move to the first point which is types of breakfast.)

BODY
I.

Breakfast is the first meal taken after rising from a night's sleep, most often eaten in
the early morning before undertaking the day's work.

A. There are two types of breakfast such as local style breakfast and western style
breakfast.

1. First type of breakfast is local style breakfast.


i. According to Easaw-John, many Malaysian breakfast dishes consist of
noodles, rice, or another type of carbohydrate as the main ingredient.
ii. The one of the most popular and well-known breakfast dishes in Malaysia
is Nasi Lemak. Considered the official national dish of Malaysia, Nasi
Lemak includes rice cooked in coconut milk, small fried anchovies,
roasted peanuts, hard-boiled egg and spicy sambal sauce.
iii. Nasi Lemak can be found anywhere in Malaysia, and comes in many
variations.

2. Second type of breakfast is western style breakfast.


i. In Malaysia, a more westernized style of breakfast appears to be
commonly consumed at home.
ii. In a recent survey in Malaysia (Chong YH, unpublished data) the most
common at home breakfast was bread or toast with butter or margarine
and jam or kaya.
(TRANSITION: Now, lets take a look the benefits of take a breakfast every day.)

II.

Breakfast really the most important meal of the days. It is linked to many health
benefits.

A. There have two benefits of take a breakfast every day.


1. The first benefit is eating breakfast can helps you to concentrate and perform
in class.
i. There is a study among undergraduate students from Loyola University
New Orleans, which was conducted by Benton & Parker (1998), it was
found that breakfast did improve memory because those who ate breakfast
before taking the memory tests did receive higher scores than those who
did not eat breakfast.
ii. Even though you have busy lifestyle, you still can spend some minutes to
have your breakfast if you wake up early. When you have breakfast your
day will be brighter.

2. The second benefit is eating breakfast can help in losing weight and maintain
a healthy weight.
i. It may seem like skipping a meal would help you lose weight, but it turns
out the opposite is true.
ii. Eating breakfast actually helps with weight loss and long-term weight
management. It also reduces your hunger later in the day and makes it
easier to avoid overeating.
iii. According to Healthy Eating, when you skip breakfast, your blood sugar
drops even lower. As a result, you become hungry and have less energy.
iv. Beside, studies prove that healthy weight may associate with reduced risk
of chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes.
(TRANSITION: Now, we have discussed all the benefits of taking breakfast. Let me share
with you a simple thing on how to prepare simple breakfast.)

III.

Here I have some ideas for making your own quick, simple and nutritious breakfast.

A. The first simple breakfast is Scrambled eggs.


1. Scrambled eggs are a dish made from whites and yolks of eggs.
2. When eaten for breakfast, scrambled eggs often accompany with toast and
sausage.
3. Here, I show you a video on how to make scrambled eggs.

B. The next simple breakfast is French toast.


1. It also known as eggy bread, gypsy toast, German toast, or Spanish toast.
2. It is a dish of bread soaked in beaten eggs and then fried.
i. Slices of bread are soaked or dipped in a mixture of beaten eggs, often
with milk or cream. The slices of egg-coated bread are then fried on both
sides until they are browned and cooked through.
(TRANSITION: Now, you know all the three major point of breakfast that has been
discussed today. I'm sure from today onwards you will not miss your breakfast.)

CONCLUSION
I.

As a conclusion, I have spoken about the main types of breakfast which is local
breakfast and western breakfast, the benefits of take a breakfast every day and tips on
how to prepare simple breakfast.

II.

If you do skip breakfast, try a nutritious snack such as fresh fruit, yoghurt, a low-fat
muffin or a whole meal sandwich to help you through that mid-morning hunger.

III.

With all this point, one finding is common throughout the studies is a healthy
nutritional breakfast is the most important thing for the performance throughout the
day!
