protection:Class30,50,and75.Class75isthehighestlevelandisrecommendedformostapplications.
Section2:Metatarsal(Mt)
Providesstandardsfortheprotectionoftheupperfoot(metatarsalbones)andtoeareas.Designedtopreventorreduceinjurieswhen
thetoeandmetatarsalareasofthefootareexposedtodrophazards.Therearethreelevelsofprotection:Class30,50and75.
Class75isthehighestlevelandisrecommendedformostapplications.
Section3:ConductiveFootwear(Cd)
Conductivefootwearisdesignedtodischargestaticelectricityfromyourbodythroughyourshoesintogroundedfloors.Floors
mustbegroundedsothatachargecanbedissipated.Conductivefootwearisdesignedandmanufacturedtominimizestatic

Footwearincludesasolepunctureresistantprotectivedevice.Thisreducesthepossibilityofpuncturewoundstothesolesofthe

Thepurposeofsolepunctureresistant(PR)protectivefootwearistoreducethepossibilityofinjurycausedbysharpobjectsthatmaypenetrate

themanufacturingprocess.Thefootwearmustwithstandaminimumforceof270pounds.Devicesconstructedofmetalmustpassthe
corrosionresistancetestingandshownosignofcorrosionafterbeingexposedtoafivepercentsaltsolutionfor24hours.Thepuncture
resistantfootwearmustshownosignsofcrackingafterbeingsubjectedto1.5millionflexes.
Staticdissipative(SD)footwearisdesignedtoreducetheaccumulationofexcessstaticelectricitybyconductingbodychargetogroundwhile
maintainingasufficientlyhighlevelofresistance.TherearetwostaticdissipativeclassificationsTypeIandTypeII.Bothtypeshavealowerlimit
ofresistanceof106ohms.TypeIfootwearselectricalresistancemustnotexceed108ohms,whichisgenerallyconsideredacceptableforsemi
conductorapplications.TypeIIfootwearselectricalresistancemustnotexceed109ohmsandhasapplicationsinworkenvironmentsless

punctureresistantfootwearmustshownosignsofcrackingafterbeingsubjectedto1.5millionflexesandhaveaminimumpunctureresistance
of270pounds.
Chainsawcutresistant(CS)footwearisdesignedtoprovideprotectiontothewearersfeetwhenoperatingachainsaw.Itisintendedto
protectthefootareabetweenthetoeandlowerleg.ThisfootwearmustmeettheASTMF1818SpecificationforFootProtectionforChainsaw
Usersstandard.
Dielectricinsulation(DI)footwearisdesignedtoprovideadditionalinsulationifaccidentalcontactismadewithenergizedelectricalconductors,
apparatusorcircuits.ItmustmeettheminimuminsulationperformancerequirementsofASTMF1117(SpecificationforDielectricFootwear)
andbetestedinaccordancewithASTMF1116(TestMethodforDeterminingDielectricStrengthofDielectricFootwear).
