In Pakistan, there is always a race – if it’s not politics then it must

in an air of competition. This race is of course nothing new in the Zubair Ahmed Kasuri Editor-in-Chief

A step backward by PTCL
It was shocking to see the PTCL bill for January received without
attachment of item wise details for international and mobile calls
made during the billing period, with the advice to contact any of its
customer care centres for obtaining such details.
That the 'system not implemented' reply from its Chundrigar Road
Centre (letter by Cyrus R. Cowasjee on Feb 18) is unbelievable and
provides evidence that the PTCL does not care for its subscribers.
Regardless of whether the PTCL implements the 'system' soon or

action against those who violate the rules set
by the PTA and Ministry of Information

The meeting held under the chairmanship

other related issues.
Member of the Committee were of the view
that unauthorised and unverified mobile

the dacoity and have contributed to worsen
the law and order situation in the country.
They called upon PTA and NADRA to
keep the interests of the country on top
priority and ensure proper verification of all
connections that were being issued. It was
pointed out that the incidents of kidnapping,
murders and terrorists activities were on the
rise for which there was dire need to work
jointly and root-out such evils in the society.
The Committee expressed its satisfaction
when it was informed that online verification
system has been put in place by NADRA to
verify all the connections. However, the
Committee underlined the need for a strict
monitoring mechanism to avoid mishap in
