Dream Big Ghana Foundation

Type of organization
Dream Big Ghana is a charity based in the United Kingdom established to support the activities
of the Dream Big Foundation NGO located in Ghana. As a charity founded in 2013, they
support the work of its sister NGO in Ghana by raising funds and publicizing its work
outside the Volta Region where they are located in Ghana.

Goal/Mission/Vision
The purpose of Dream Big Ghana Foundation (DBGF) is to promote and support the charitable
work of Dream Big Ghana NGO in the following core areas sanitation, public health, education
and youth sports development.

Thematic areas of interest

The areas of interest of Dream Big Ghana Foundation are:
Sanitation
The Dream Big Foundation in collaboration with the University of Nottingham embarked on a
programme called The No Flush! Project. This engaged undergraduate students from the
University of Nottingham through CASCADE, to send students as volunteers for a 3week
period. This project they embarked upon made them construct compost toilets in some areas of
Ghana. One of the areas where they carried out this project was in Dzita and Abgledomi, which
are rural communities in Volta Region of Ghana.
Public Health
Public health is a serious issue in Ghana. Due to this, Dream Big Ghana Foundation has
collaborated with the University of Nottingham for students to have a healthcare elective where
they can have a placement in the local community hospital in Ghana. This local hospital, Keta
District Hospital has been the location for internships for students from the University of
Nottingham. Theyve not just come to practice and help out, but also learnt about the culture of
the local community.
Education
Dream Big Ghana Foundation in partnership with Dream Big Ghana NGO believes in the
importance of Education. It has decided to support children by getting volunteers willing to teach
3

Maths, English, Art and ICT subjects with other classroom teachers, thereby making an impact
on the lives and future of the children.
Youth Sports Development
One of the key objectives of Dream Big Ghana Foundation is to support Sports Development in
the local villages where it operates. Due to this, they have earmarked football as one of the ways
that this can be achieved. With this in mind, they decided to support a Junior Football Academy
because of the popularity of football in Ghana and how it fosters development in the community.
Furthermore, there are opportunities for a scholarship for students who have exceptional talent as
this could be the chance to have a bright future.

Overview of spend
Over the course of its work in Ghana, Dream Big Ghana has spent money in the Volta Region;
specifically in Dzita and Abgledomi. They have raised over 1,000 from various projects. Some

of them include:
Reggae and Afrobeat Night: This was held at the University of Nottingham and over 400
was raised in the process.
Toilet Twinning Initiative: This initiative was the brainchild of Chris Croudace; the Chair of
Dream Big Ghana Foundation, which was held at Frome and over 500 was raised. The
motivation behind this initiative was due to the poor sanitation record in Ghana, preventing
