3rd rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. 2 dc in each dc around. Join
with sl st to top of ch 3. 24 dc.
4th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *1 dc in next dc. 2 dc in next dc.
Rep from * to last dc. 1 dc in last dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 36 dc.
5th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *1 dc in each of next 2 dc. 2 dc
in next dc. Rep from * to last 2 dc. 1 dc in each of last 2 dc. Join with sl st
to top of ch 3. 48 dc.

Lattice Strips
Long Strip (make 4)
**With A, ch 2, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in sc. Turn.**
Rep last row until Strip measures 8" [20.5 cm], when slightly stretched.
Fasten off, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
Medium Strip (make 4)
Work from ** to ** as given for Long Strip.
Rep last row until Strip measures 7" [18 cm], when slightly stretched.
Fasten off, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
Short Strip (make 4)
Work from ** to ** as given for Long Strip.
Rep last row until Strip measures 6" [15 cm], when slightly stretched.
Fasten off, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
FINISHING
Place WS of Base and Filling pieces tog. Lay Strips on top and following
diagram, weave Strips into crust top, taking care to keep Strips flat.
Using yarn ends at each end of Strip, sew ends of Strips in position to
outer edge (working through all thicknesses to secure all pieces).
Edging: 1st rnd: (RS). Join A with sl st through all thicknesses in any dc
at outer edge. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. Work 79 sc around outer
edge. Join with sl st to first sc. 80 sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *Miss next sc. (Sl st. Ch 3. 1 dc) in
next sc. Rep from * around to last sc. Miss last sc. Join with sl st at base of
ch 3. Ch 13 for hanging loop. Join with sl st in last sl st. Fasten off.
